20080207109Ventilation Register and Ventilation Systems - Displacement ventilation systems are generally poor performers when it comes to heating. The instant patent application discusses devices and systems for improving heating performance while retaining the benefits of displacement ventilation without wholesale co-location of independent space conditioning systems.08-28-2008
20090032011 CONTROL OF EXHAUST SYSTEMS - Exhaust capture and containment are enhanced by means of automatic or manual side skirts, a sensitive breach detector based on interference effects, a combination of vertical and horizontal edge jets, and/or corner jets that are directed to the center diagonally from corners. Associated control functions are described.02-05-2009
20090199844EXHAUST HOOD WITH AIR CURTAIN - An exhaust hood captures and contains a thermal plume with a minimum of exhaust air by defining a short-throw planar jet around a protected perimeter. Corner interference is mitigated by various mechanisms including having at least one of adjacent planar jets run only partly along a respective edge such that said first and second curtain jets do not meet at said corner; having a direction of the planar jets proximate corners where they meet being intermediate between respective directions of the jets along respective main portions of the perimeter; or having a direction of the jets of one of the adjacent edges be horizontal while the other is vertical.08-13-2009
20100005765HIGH EFFICIENCY GREASE FILTER CARTRIDGE - A grease filter has a filtering portion configured such that fumes enter a major face thereof and flow through a grease extraction filter therewithin in a direction parallel to the major face. A frame that fits into an opening of a hood defines a box structure that is configured to allow flow from the end (or ends) of the filtering portion where flow exits. The frame permits the flow to exit to a side opposite the face even when the frame is surrounded, edgewise, by a solid structure of the hood opening01-14-2010
20100294259CONTROL OF EXHAUST SYSTEMS - Exhaust capture and containment are enhanced by means of automatic or manual side skirts, a sensitive breach detector based on interference effects, a combination of vertical and horizontal edge jets, and/or corner jets that are directed to the center diagonally from corners. Associated control functions are described.11-25-2010
20110005507REAL-TIME CONTROL OF EXHAUST FLOW - An interferometric detector detects fluctuations in fluid properties in the vicinity of an exhaust hood to control protective skirts that reduce the exhaust air requirement. 01-13-2011
20110021128CONTROL OF EXHAUST SYSTEMS - Exhaust capture and containment are enhanced by means of automatic or manual side skirts, a sensitive breach detector based on interference effects, a combination of vertical and horizontal edge jets, and/or corner jets that are directed to the center diagonally from corners. Associated control functions are described.01-27-2011

20080308088Low Profile Exhaust Hood - A low profile exhaust hood has a high inlet and a high aspect ratio of horizontal to vertical. A sloping wall of the recess guides hot plumes upwardly to the inlet. The inlet is sized to provide an exhaust face velocity that is at least as high as a highest possible plume velocity for a 400 F oven. The inlet is located high and forwardly to cause a suction zone to be generated near the forward edge of the hood to aid in capturing plumes tending to escape which are remote from the sloping wall.12-18-2008
20090093210DAMPER SUITABLE FOR LIQUID AEROSOL-LADEN FLOW STREAMS - A flow control device has a duct section with a plurality of damper blocking elements, each having a major plane. The damper blocking elements are pivotably connected to the duct section and movable in a range that is limited to ensure that, when the duct section is mounted in a preferred orientation, the damper blocking element major planes always form an angle of at least 45 degrees from the horizontal throughout the range. The range is such that the plurality of damper blocking elements can selectively close and open the duct. The blocking elements can completely close the duct, for example, to block natural convection.04-09-2009
20090264060RECIRCULATING EXHAUST SYSTEM - Systems, devices and methods provide energy recover, modular systems to build and revise commercial kitchen services, closed circuit exhaust, and high efficiency capture and containment of fumes from cooking processes.10-22-2009
20100225477DUCT GREASE DEPOSIT DETECTION DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS - Automatic devices that determine when pollutant deposits have accumulated in ductwork may be employed to notify maintenance personnel or automated cleaning equipment of the need for ducts to cleaned or replaced. Various detection devices may be employed to detect a property of accumulated grease and generate an indication of an accumulation. The detection device may present a surface to the fume stream inside a duct. The surface may be cooled to a temperature that represents a worst case temperature so that the accumulation due to condensation on the detector surface is at least as high as the coolest surface in the ductwork which is being monitored. Alternatively, the detection device may be located external to the duct. The detection device may interrogate the surface of the duct through contact or noncontact measurements to determine the thickness of an accumulated grease layer on the interior of the duct.09-09-2010
20110053483EXHAUST APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR ENHANCED CAPTURE AND CONTAINMENT - A ventilation exhaust intake device is located at ceiling level of a production space and has a low profile form with combination of vertical and horizontal jets. Recesses and other feature are provided to enhance capture and containment and other functional aspects. Certain embodiments include a light source adjacent the jet registers.03-03-2011
20110094497HOOD DEVICES, METHODS, AND SYSTEMS WITH FEATURES TO ENHANCE CAPTURE AND CONTAINMENT - A device that augments the capture and containment of an exhaust hood using jets is retrofitable to existing exhaust hoods. The device, in embodiments, forms a self-contained system that is separate from the hood and can be installed in existing hoods providing them with increased performance. Various embodiments are shown which are suitable for canopy and backshelf hood designs.04-28-2011
20110143648AUTOMATIC DISPLACEMENT VENTILATION SYSTEM WITH HEATING MODE - Displacement ventilation systems are generally poor performers when it comes to heating. The instant patent application discusses devices and systems for improving heating performance while retaining the benefits of displacement ventilation without wholesale co-location of independent space conditioning systems.06-16-2011
