20100267973METHODS FOR ENHANCING THE EFFICIENCY OF RHENIUM-PROMOTED EPOXIDATION CATALYSTS AND EPOXIDATION METHODS UTILIZING THESE - A method for enhancing the efficiency of a rhenium-promoted epoxidation catalyst is provided. Advantageously, the method may be carried out in situ, i.e., within the epoxidation process, and in fact, may be carried out during production of the desired epoxide. As such, a method for the epoxidation of alkylenes incorporating the efficiency-enhancing method is also provided, as is a method for using the alkylene oxides so produced for the production of 1,2-diols, 1,2-carbonates, 1,2-diol ethers, or alkanolamines.10-21-2010
20100267974SIMPLIFIED METHOD FOR PRODUCING ALKYLENE OXIDES WITH A HIGH EFFICIENCY CATALYST AS IT AGES - A simplified method of operating an alkylene oxide production process that utilizes a high efficiency silver catalyst is shown and described. The method accounts for declining catalyst activity that occurs as the catalyst ages by making alternating changes to the reaction temperature and an overall chloriding effectiveness parameter.10-21-2010

20080197933METHOD OF ELIMINATING TEMPERATURE INDUCED BAND SWITCHING IN ULTRA WIDEBAND VOLTAGE CONTROLLED OSCILLATOR - A method and a voltage-controlled oscillator provide an output signal with a frequency within one of a plurality of frequency bands, while reducing or eliminating temperature-induced band-switching or other drifts in operating frequency. The band-switching is reduced or eliminated by providing a circuit that adjusts a tuning sensitivity according to a calibration performed under test conditions. For example, such a voltage-controlled oscillator may include (a) a digitally controlled variable current source for providing a first control current to select one of the frequency bands for the voltage-controlled oscillator; (b) a variable transconductance circuit providing a second control current to compensate a variation in operating frequency; and (c) a control circuit for varying the frequency of the output signal in accordance with the first and second control signals. The variable transconductance circuit may be programmable by selectively activating elements of an array of varactor circuits, according to a capacitance associated with each varactor circuit. The capacitance associated with each varactor circuit is binary weighted.08-21-2008
20100141341Receiver Having Multi-Stage Low Noise Amplifier - A receiver having multi-stage low noise amplifier are provided. In this regard, a representative receiver, among others, includes at least one antenna and a filter that receives and filters signals from the at least one antenna. The filtered signals include a first frequency band signal and a second frequency band signal. The receiver further includes a multi-stage low noise amplifier that receives the filtered signals from the filter. The multi-stage low noise amplifier includes a first stage low noise amplifier that receives and performs impedance matching for the first frequency band signal and second frequency band signal. The multi-stage low noise amplifier further includes a second stage low noise amplifier that receives the first frequency band signal and second frequency band signal. The second stage low noise amplifier includes load resistors that switch off for the first frequency band signal and switch on for the second frequency band signal based on receiving either the first frequency band signal or second frequency band signal.06-10-2010

20110151863Automated Communications Device Field Testing, Performance Management, And Resource Allocation - Field testing, performance monitoring, and resource management are performed via a communications device, automatically and autonomously, without user intervention. Abnormal conditions are automatically detected while the communications device is performing a service and adjustments are automatically made to network resources in order to improve service performance. Upon initiation of a request for service (e.g., IM, MMS, SMS, etc.), the communications device automatically begins to monitor the performance of the service session (e.g., send time, receive time, etc.). During or after the service session, the communications device stores the performance data associated with the performance of the service. The performance data is analyzed in accordance with a subscriber's user profile information, to detect any problems with the service. If problems are detected, necessary adjustments and/or reallocation of resources are made automatically and autonomously, without user intervention.06-23-2011

20110275092METHOD FOR DETECTING BIOLOGICAL MARKERS BY AN ATOMIC FORCE MICROSCOPE - A method for detecting biological markers involves preparing sample slices using a hard granular labeling material such as hard nano-gold granular material. The sample slices are fixed to sample patches. The sample is scanned using the atomic force microscope (AFM) in tapping mode to collect the height, amplitude and phase data of the hard granular material. The hard labeling material is mainly determined through changes in discrepancies in phase diagram color, while height and amplitude diagrams are used to provide auxiliary evidence of sample morphological features. Integrating these data with the state of the biological target object can thus determine the existence of a marked object.11-10-2011

20110320474Availability of Database Objects During Database Operations - A method, computer program product, and system for providing access to a database object during modification of that object. Upon receipt of a data definition language (DDL) operation specifying a modification to the database object, currently executing database transactions are invalidated in a two-step process of a soft invalidation followed by a hard invalidation. The soft invalidation permits the current database transactions to continue executing while modifying the logical structure of the database object in accordance with the DDL operation, and the hard invalidation waits for the database transactions started prior to the DDL operation to finish execution before modifying the physical structure of the database object in accordance with the DDL operation. After the modification to the logical structure is complete, new database transactions are allowed to execute against the modified database object, thus improving the availability of the object while it is being modified.12-29-2011
