| 20100078426 | Apparatus and method for maintaining a urea solution in a liquid state for treatment of diesel exhaust - A system for keeping a solution of urea in a liquid state comprising a tank having a level sensing apparatus, inlet and outlet tubes for supplying and withdrawing urea solution, and a plurality of non-contact heating elements disposed in vertical relationship to one another. Preferably, the heating elements are infrared (IR) radiative coils encased in IR-transparent quartz tubes. In one embodiment, each heating element represents a horizontally defined heating zone. When the reservoir tank is full and predetermined temperature conditions are met, all of the heaters are on, each heater irradiating its own horizontal zone. As zones are progressively emptied during consumption of the urea solution, as determined by the level sensor, each respective zone heater is de-energized. Because each horizontal zone is heated by a single heater, the solution is maintained at a substantially uniform temperature over the full depth of the tank without localized overheating. | 04-01-2010 |

| 20080229832 | AUTOMATIC TIME-OF-FLIGHT SELECTION FOR ULTRASOUND TOMOGRAPHY - Ultrasound sound-speed tomography requires accurate picks of time-of-flights (TOFs) of transmitted ultrasound signals, however, manual picking on large datasets is time-consuming. The automatic TOF picker of the present invention can accurately pick TOFs in the presence of random noise with average absolute amplitude of up to 80% of the maximum absolute synthetic signal amplitude. The inventive method is applied to clinical ultrasound breast data, and compared with manual picks and amplitude threshold picking. Test results indicate that the inventive TOF picker is much less sensitive to data signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs), and performs more consistently for different datasets in relation to manual picking. Compared to normal concrete and fiber reinforced concrete, the invented composite has substantially improved tensile strain capacity with strain hardening behavior, several hundred times higher than that of conventional concrete and fiber reinforced concrete even when subjected to impact loading. The brittle matrix may be a hydraulic cement or an inorganic polymer. In an exemplary embodiment of the teachings, the composites are prepared by incorporating pozzolanic admixtures, lightweight filler, and fine aggregates in Engineered Cementitious Composite fresh mixture, to form the resulting mixtures, then placing the resulting mixtures into molds, and curing the resulting mixtures. | 03-19-2009 |

| 20120132473 | CORNER ASSEMBLY FOR VEHICLE - In a first aspect, the invention is directed to a wheel assembly for a vehicle, including a non-rotating support member, a wheel and an electric motor. Loads incurred during vehicle use can cause dynamic flexing of portions of the wheel. The wheel assembly in accordance with the first aspect of the invention has a load path for loads incurred by the wheel that passes from the wheel to the non-rotating support member without passing through the motor, thereby reducing a potential source of distortion of the gap in the motor (between the motor's rotor and stator) during the aforementioned flexing. | 05-31-2012 |
