20090041925System and Method for Endpoint Detection of a Process in a Chamber - A system and method which implements a preferred embodiment of the present invention detects the endpoint of a process by monitoring changes in chamber pressure in real time. The endpoint of a process may be detected for processes that produce measurable changes in chamber pressure. For example, chemical reactions conducted within the chamber, such as during a cleaning process, may result in changes to chamber pressure. As the chamber is cleaned, the chamber pressure is maintained using an evacuation conductance modulating device, such as a throttle valve, to prevent gaseous by-products of the cleaning process from changing the chamber pressure. As the cleaning process progresses, less contaminants exist and less by-product evolves. As a result, if the throttle valve position is held constant, then variables, such as a decrease in the rate of change in chamber pressure, can be used to detect the endpoint of the process.02-12-2009

20120255360PHASED ARRAY ULTRASONIC EXAMINATION SYSTEM AND METHOD - A method and apparatus for phased array ultrasound testing of piping that complies with present-day codes but allows more thorough flaw detection capability. A tapered wedge with a concave face is calibrated by submerging the wedge under sonic coupling fluid, thereby allowing sonic coupling of the concave wedge face to a flat reference plate with minimal error. The flaw detector is configured to display A-scan and S-scan data concurrently and to sweep between 30-70 degrees. A-scan data corresponding with conventional preferred inspection incidence angle is selected, and reject levels are set to 0% to meet current inspection standards. S-scan data allows for detection of flaws that might otherwise be undetectable using only A-scan data. A palette adjustment feature remaps the colors assigned to lower intensity return values so that they are not displayed on the S-scan, thereby de-cluttering sectorial data without filtering A-scan data.10-11-2012

20110087468Approximating a System Using an Abstract Geometrical Space - System and method for approximating a system. A multi-parameter representation of a family of systems is stored. An embedding of the family into an abstract geometrical continuous space with a metric and defined by the parameters is determined. Coordinates of the space specify values for the parameters of systems of the family. The space includes a grid of points representing respective discrete approximations of the systems. A first point corresponding to a desired instance of a system is determined. The first point's coordinates specify values for the parameters of the instance. Through a mechanical linkage, the actuator sequentially tensions and releases the cuff, thereby sequentially compressing and releasing pressure on the patient, and thereby augmenting the patient's blood pressure. The actuator includes a hydraulic cylinder that axially extends and retracts a shaft. A curved plate on the apparatus supports the patient's body or extremity in a fixed position during the treatment. A pressure sensor in the cuff transmits pressure data to an operator or electronic processor. Based on physiological data continuously obtained from the patient, various treatment parameters may be changed during the patient's treatment by an attending clinician or by a computer processor controlling the treatment.12-25-2008

20090017016Treatment and prevention of hypersensitivity and/or anaphylaxis with anti-ige antibodies in patients receiving replacement therapy - The present invention relates generally to a method of treatment and/or prevention of hypersensitivity including anaphylaxis in patients receiving replacement therapy molecules that elicit an IgE-mediated response by administering an anti-IgE antibody or a binding fragment thereof. Anti-IgE antibodies inhibit IgE-mediated allergic reactions in the mammals and can also lower the risk of an anaphylactic reaction to a replacement therapy molecule. The administration of anti-IgE antibodies over time also downregulates the high-affinity IgE receptor, further decreasing the risk of hypersensitivity and/or anaphylaxis. The anti-IgE antibody binds to circulating or serum IgE and/or membrane form IgE on B-cells, but not to IgE bound to mast cells or basophils, as this may cause crosslinking. This method also reduces the dose and/or frequency of administration of the replacement therapy molecule by reducing or eliminating neutralizing IgE antibodies specific for the replacement therapy molecule.01-15-2009

20090053220METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR THE INHIBITION OF HIV INFECTION OF T CELLS - The present invention is based upon the surprising discovery that exposure of a non-resistant HIV to a first entry inhibitor, such as an anti-CD4 antibody or a co-receptor inhibitor, which like all current HIV drugs selects for mutations that result in a resistant HIV, surprisingly results in HIV viruses much more susceptible to neutralization by a second entry inhibitor, such as soluble CD4 (sCD4) or an HIV gp41 inhibitor. Therefore, the present invention provides methods and compositions for inhibiting HIV-1 infection in a subject that overcomes the problem of drug resistance.02-26-2009

20100251764Hydrocarbon Gas Processing - A process and an apparatus are disclosed for the recovery of ethane, ethylene, propane, propylene, and heavier hydrocarbon components from a hydrocarbon gas stream in a compact processing assembly. The gas stream is cooled and divided into first and second streams. The first stream is further cooled to condense substantially all of it and is thereafter expanded to lower pressure and supplied as a feed between first and second absorbing means inside the processing assembly. The second stream is expanded to lower pressure and supplied as the bottom feed to the second absorbing means. A distillation vapor stream is collected from the upper region of the first absorbing means and directed into one or more heat exchange means inside the processing assembly to heat it while cooling the gas stream and the first stream. The heated distillation vapor stream is compressed to higher pressure and divided into a volatile residue gas fraction and a compressed recycle stream. The compressed recycle stream is cooled to condense substantially all of it by the distillation vapor stream in the one or more heat exchange means inside the processing assembly, and is thereafter expanded to lower pressure and supplied as top feed to the first absorbing means. A distillation liquid stream is collected from the lower region of the second absorbing means and directed into a heat and mass transfer means inside the processing assembly to heat it and strip out its volatile components while cooling the gas stream. The quantities and temperatures of the feeds to the first and second absorbing means are effective to maintain the temperature of the upper region of the first absorbing means at a temperature whereby the major portions of the desired components are recovered in the stripped distillation liquid stream.10-07-2010
