20110120959HYDROCLONE BASED FLUID FILTRATION SYSTEM - A variety of improved hydroclone based fluid filtering systems are described. The hydroclones generally include a tank having an internal chamber and a filter (preferably a surface filter) that is positioned within the internal chamber. The filter defines a filtered fluid chamber within the internal chamber of the tank. The hydroclone may be operated such that a vortex of flowing fluid is formed between the chamber wall and the filter with the filter being located in the center of the vortex. With this arrangement, the filter acts as a cross-flow filter. In one aspect of the invention, the filter is a stepped filter. In another aspect of the invention, the filter is an surface filter, as for example, an electroformed metal surface filter. In some preferred embodiments, the openings in the filter are arranged as slots that extend substantially vertically so that they are oriented substantially perpendicular to the flow path of fluid flowing in the adjacent portion of the vortex. In another aspect of the invention, a circulating cleaning assembly is provided in the hydroclone region. The cleaning assembly is arranged to help clean the filter and is driven by the vortex of flowing fluid formed in the hydroclone region of the internal chamber. In yet another aspect of the invention, improved hydroclone intake structures are described. The described hydroclones may be used to filter water and other fluids in a wide variety of applications.05-26-2011

20090144684CLOCK MODEL FOR FORMAL VERIFICATION OF A DIGITAL CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION - An edge clock model is used to capture states from a logic-level simulation of a circuit description. The states are captured at clock edges, or transitions, according to an edge clock model based on a clock specification for the circuit description. The captured states and associated attributes are used in formal verification of the circuit description. This approach helps to reduce or eliminate inaccuracies and other issues with other clock models such as a phase clock model. In one embodiment, a phase clock model can be used in addition to the edge clock model. In another embodiment, the edge clock states can be used to generate states according to different clock models, such as the phase clock model.06-04-2009

20090105453Interleukin-9 receptor mutants - This invention relates to the diagnosis, treatment and methods for discovery of new therapeutics for atopic asthma and related disorders based on variants of Asthma Associated Factor 2. One embodiment of the invention is a variant of AAF2 wherein codon 173 is deleted resulting in the loss of glutamine 173 from the mature protein precursor. This single amino acid deletion results in a non-functional AAF2 protein and therefore the presence of this phenotype should be associated with less evidence of atopic asthma. Correspondingly, the lack of susceptibility to an asthmatic, atopic phenotype is characterized by the loss of glutamine at codon 171 The invention includes isolated DNA molecules which are variants of the wild type sequence as well as the proteins encoded by such DNA and the use of such DNA molecules and expressed protein in the diagnosis and treatment of atopic asthma.04-23-2009
20110224153Asthma Associated Factors as Targets for Treating Atopic Allergies Including Asthma and Related Disorders - A C to T DNA variation at position 3365 in exon 5 of the human Asthma Associated Factor 1 (AAF1) produces the predicted amino acid substitution of a methionine for a threonine at codon 117 of AAF1. When this substitution occurs in both alleles in one individual, it is associated with less evidence of atopic allergy including asthma, fewer abnormal skin test responses, and a lower serum total IgE. Thus, applicant has identified the existence of a non-asthmatic, non-atopic phenotype characterized by methionine at codon 117 when it occurs in both AAF1 gene products in one individual.09-15-2011
20110224406INTERLEUKIN-9 RECEPTOR MUTANTS - This invention relates to the diagnosis, treatment and methods for discovery of new therapeutics for atopic asthma and related disorders based on variants of Asthma Associated Factor 2.
