20110153174ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION WITH TORQUE LIMITING SYSTEM AND METHOD THEREOF - Is provided herein a torque-limiting electronically controlled CVT comprising a drive portion having a drive pulley including two opposed sheaves adapted to be actuated with an electric motor to set a transmission ratio between an engine and a ground contacting rotating member of a vehicle, an input module adapted to receive a signal indicative of whether a ground-contacting rotating member is airborne, a processing module adapted to determine a desired CVT ratio, and an output module adapted to actuate the electric motor to obtain the desired CVT ratio to match the circumferential velocity of the vehicle's airborne ground-contacting rotating member with the speed of the vehicle in order to limit a mechanical peak torque sustained by a drive system of the vehicle. Also provided hereby is a vehicle equipped with the CVT, a kit including such a CVT and a method of managing the CVT to limit the mechanical peak torque sustained by a drive train of a vehicle.06-23-2011
20110277577TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD THEREOF - A method of managing a transmission ratio with an assisted CVT with a governed engine to emulate a hydrostatic transmission and prevent a drivebelt abuse is provided, the method comprising: providing a reference power source rotational speed, using the assisted CVT to transmit rotatable motion between a power source and a drive mechanism, managing a torque of the power source to maintain a substantially even rotational speed upon a power source load variation and modulating a transmission ratio of the assisted CVT to change the rotational speed of the drive mechanism. A system and a vehicle having such a drivebelt abuse preventing mechanism is also provided.11-17-2011

20090251536SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING AND SORTING MATERIAL - An automatic sorting system is for identifying and sorting non-homogenous material. The system includes a conveyor belt and an identification unit cooperable with the conveyor belt and placed above the conveying surface thereof for identifying material traveling therealong. The identification unit includes at least one projector for projecting a beam of light downwardly towards the conveying surface, at a given height above the conveying surface, and onto a given material to be identified, so that a portion of projected light may be reflected back from the given material and upwardly towards the identification unit. The identification unit also includes at least one lens positioned about the identification unit for receiving the portion of reflected light from the given material to be identified. The identification unit also includes a first processing unit operatively linked to the at least one lens for carrying a spectral analysis of the portion of reflected light captured by the at least one lens so as to determine the nature of the given material, and a second processing unit operatively linked to the first processing unit for comparing results of the spectral analysis with corresponding data associated to a variety of different materials stored in a given database of the second processing unit. The present system also includes a sorting unit operatively linked to the second processing unit and operatively cooperating with the second end of the conveyor so as to sort material released from the second end of the conveyor depending on signals received from the second processing unit.10-08-2009

20110306425Haptic Interface - Controllers for user interaction with gaming consoles have progressively become more complicated and requiring good manual dexterity of the users to obtain the benefit of todays high resolution, virtual gaming worlds. However, even advanced users of such handheld controllers struggle to implement the required keystroke sequences required in these gaming environments. For those with disabilities, restricted motion, fatigue etc these controllers presented a barrier to their use of such systems. In accordance with embodiments of the invention a controller pad is provided that allows a user to select “buttons”, indicate motion etc with hands, feet, chin, mouth-held pointer etc. In some embodiments of the invention the controller pad also provides force feedback to the user in response to the actions of the user and/or computing environment either to increase the users overall satisfaction or providing stimulus to indicate errors or input requests in other non-gaming computer applications.12-15-2011

20110113109Secure Electronic Mail System - An e-mail system is disclosed that overcomes many deficiencies of, but is backward compatible with, existing e-mail systems. An exemplary method for communicating e-mail messages includes receiving an e-mail message from a sender addressed to a recipient, receiving a request for access to the e-mail message from an e-mail client associated with the recipient, and providing the e-mail client with access to the e-mail message. The method further includes receiving a navigation notification indicating a navigation away from the e-mail message followed by a navigation return to the e-mail message, and in response, withholding access to the e-mail message by the e-mail client, and providing the e-mail client with a message placeholder.05-12-2011
