LOOSE SYNCHRONIZATION OF VIRTUAL DISKS - Computer implemented methods, computer program products and computer systems synchronize copies of a virtual disk. A record of blocks that are modified during an access session of a copy of the virtual disk is maintained. For each partition of the virtual disk, a file system level indication of currently relevant blocks is obtained. Only those blocks that were modified during the access session and are currently relevant are copied to at least one additional copy of the virtual disk. | 09-24-2009

EXTENDING SERVER-BASED DESKTOP VIRTUAL MACHINE ARCHITECTURE TO CLIENT MACHINES - A server-based desktop-virtual machines architecture may be extended to a client machine. In one embodiment, a user desktop is remotely accessed from a client system. The remote desktop is generated by a first virtual machine running on a server system, which may comprise one or more server computers. During execution of the first virtual machine, writes to a corresponding virtual disk are directed to a delta disk file or redo log. A copy of the virtual disk is created on the client system. When a user decides to “check out” his or her desktop, the first virtual machine is terminated (if it is running) and a copy of the delta disk is created on the client system. Once the delta disk is present on the client system, a second virtual machine can be started on the client system using the virtual disk and delta disk to provide local access to the user's desktop at the client system. This allows the user to then access his or her desktop without being connected to a network. | 08-27-2009

Unified Secure Virtual Machine Player and Remote Desktop Client - A virtual machine (VM) is accessed by receiving user log-in information, the log-in information identifying a user and a corresponding VM, the VM having a local copy and a remote copy. A selected copy of the VM is identified based on at least one of a policy and a user selection, the selected copy being one of the local copy and the remote copy of the VM. A desktop generated by the selected copy of the VM is presented to the user in a common application graphical user interface, the common application graphical user interface being used regardless as to whether the selected copy of the VM is the local copy or the remote copy. | 03-18-2010

Intermodal powder/bulk freight container - The present invention teaches that air may be injected into the sloping bottom of a bulk dry particulate cargo container (micron-sized through quarry-sized dry particulate) accompanied by traditional conveyance-variety pneumatic air, causing the bulk dry particulate cargo to enter a bi-phase state having an air matrix with particulate inclusions. The result of this air lubrication is a dramatically reduced coefficient of friction. This bi-phase material may be extremely fluid, easily exiting a discharge port without regard to normal bulk dry particulate friction or angle of repose. The present invention also teaches a cargo container having a plurality of air injectors on the sloping bottom of a particulate plenum and having air supply apparatus feeding the air injectors. | 09-18-2008

BIOMARKERS FOR THE PREDICTION OF RESPONSIVENESS TO CLOZAPINE TREATMENT - This invention provides methods to predict the likelihood of suicidal or self-destructive behaviour in a patient during treatment. The method employs the detection of a VNTR polymorphism in the 3′-UTR of the dopamine transporter gene (SLC6A3). Patients with nine or fewer repeats are considered poor responders to clozapine. Nine or fewer repeats in the SLC6A3 gene have been correlated with poor expression of the SLC6A3 gene. Also provided are methods of treatment based on the presence or absence of this polymorphism or surrogate markers thereof. Also provided are kits to use in the methods of the invention. | 11-12-2009
