Fire Extinguishing Roof Soaker - The present invention is a spraying system that extinguishes flying embers that may land on a roof from brush fires or forest fires. This includes a submersible pump at the bottom of a well that is attached to a supply pipe that allows water to be pumped into a reservoir. Another submersible pump is inside the reservoir that pumps water thru a supply pipe that is attached to the roof. This area is called a water station that may also be equipped with a generator for a backup power source. The supply pipe has pipe couplings attached at certain intervals and has sprayers installed into the couplings. These sprayers will then give off an adequate amount of water to soak down the entire roof area in the event of an approaching fire. All of this is assembled and placed in specially designed roof fasteners that are installed throughout the entire hip and ridge of the roof. | 04-09-2009

Apparatus for Emergency Seatbelt Release - The present invention provides an apparatus to facilitate the easy removal or release of a seatbelt or similar safety harness device during an emergency. The apparatus of the invention provides a practical and easy means of releasing a seatbelt or similar safety harness that is jammed or difficult to remove during an auto accident or other emergency. The apparatus is comprised of an Emergency Seatbelt Release (ESR) box which is attached to the seatbelt, preferably at or near the tongue connector of the seatbelt such that the seatbelt passes through the ESR box. The ESR box contains a sharp edged cutting instrument attached to a trigger handle contained in a compartment within the ESR box. The compartment containing the trigger handle has a protective quick access cover so that it will not be inadvertently pulled or snagged in non-emergency situations. When the protective cover is removed, the trigger handle becomes accessible with the aid of compression springs which extend and eject the trigger handle. In an emergency, the trigger handle is pulled and the sharp edge cutting instrument is drawn along the seatbelt, cutting it completely in one forward motion. | 09-18-2008

Distributed Clock Gating with Centralized State Machine Control - A method, computer program product, and system are provided for controlling a clock distribution network. For example, an embodiment of the method can include programming a predetermined delay time into a plurality of processing elements and controlling an activation and de-activation of these processing elements in a sequence based on the predetermined delay time. The processing elements are located in a system incorporating the clock distribution network, where the predetermined delay time can be programmed in a control register of a clock gate control circuit residing in the processing element. Further, when controlling the activation and de-activation of the processing elements, this activity can be controlled with a state machine based on the system's mode of operation. In controlling the activation and de-activation of the processing elements, the method described above can not only control the effects of di/dt in the system but also shut off clock signals in the clock distribution network when idle, thus reducing dynamic power consumption. | 12-03-2009

Blow-off sprocket - An improved blow-off system wherein compressed air directed through a nozzle is used to eject individual cans from their support pins, wherein the nozzles move in synchronized manner with the individual cans such that the ejection operation is accomplished without need to stop or slow the processing equipment. The blow-off system has a sprocket, such that the sprocket of the blow-off system can be substituted for an idler or drive sprocket found in the pin chain conveyor system of the processing equipment. Multiple blow-off nozzles are disposed radially from a central distribution manifold, with each nozzle being operated by a dedicated valve. As the cans pass around the sprocket for 90 to 180 degrees, the nozzles are aligned with each can over this entire arc. If a defect is noted such that the can needs to be ejected, the individual nozzle associated with the defective can is activated. | 01-15-2009

Providing Conditional Advertising - Advertisements can be paired based on their context to achieve increased advertising effectiveness that might not be able to be achieved without the pairing. The advertisements can be paired based on a user's preferred context, which includes an attribute of one of the advertisements. For example, a conditional advertisement can be paired with a scheduled advertisement based on an industry type, the length of the other advertisement, or some other characteristic. Each characteristic can be given a weight, to aid in pairing determinations. The effectiveness of the pairing can be tracked, and the context can be iteratively modified based on the measured effectiveness of the advertising campaign. Pairing can be performed without identifying other advertisers, even though weighting factors may take a sponsor's identity into account. Pairing can be constrained by a master schedule and by a maximum allowed number of conditional spots. | 04-15-2010

A pattern is created in the mask layer, and the pattern is transferred from the mask layer to the dielectric layer by performing a plasma etching process. While transferring the pattern to the dielectric layer, the mask layer is substantially removed using the plasma etching process. The plasma etching process can use a process gas comprising a first gaseous component that etches the dielectric layer at a greater rate than the mask layer, and a second gaseous component that etches the dielectric layer at a lesser rate than the mask layer. | 09-30-2010 |
