20100315487 | MEDICAL IMAGING METHOD IN WHICH VIEWS CORRESPONDING TO 3D IMAGES ARE SUPERIMPOSED OVER 2D IMAGES - A method using an imaging device to define an acquisition geometry for 2D images of an observation region, a region for which there exists a 3D representation. 2D views of the 3D representation can be determined following the acquisition geometry of the imaging device for a plurality of viewing points, so that each acquired 2D image can be superimposed with any of this plurality of views. As a variant, in the 3D representation two views are determined corresponding to the viewing point at which the eye is positioned at the formation plane of the acquired image (front view and corresponds to the 2D image) and to the viewing point at which the eye is positioned at the focal point of the projective geometry (back view which is opposite to the viewing point of the 2D image). These two views allow the generation of two images for superimposition over the acquired image, defining superimposition of the acquired image with a front view of the 3D representation of the observation region and superimposition of the acquired image with a back view of the 3D representation of the observation region. | 12-16-2010 |

20100130878 | SYSTEMS, APPARATUS AND PROCESSES FOR AUTOMATED BLOOD FLOW ASSESSMENT OF VASCULATURE - A system, apparatus and process for characterizing aspects of vascular scenarios is described, and includes an input module and a database. The system also includes access to a FSI solver. The FSI solver accepts information from the input module and the database, and uses the accepted information to model a vascular site of interest and provide results from modeling the vascular site of interest. The system also includes interfaces for transmitting information from the input module and the database to the FSI solver and for receiving the results from the FSI solver, and an ensemble of analysis modules which is coupled to the interface for receiving results. The ensemble of analysis modules compares various treatment options, allows before-and-after comparisons of aspects of the vascular site of interest and provides quantitative assessments of parameters of interest describing the vascular site of interest. | 05-27-2010 |

20140121501 | AUTOMATED INTRAOPERATIVE ULTRASOUND CALIBRATION - An ultrasound calibration phantom comprises a portion including at least one fiducial structure having a selected geometric arrangement; a portion adapted for mechanical coupling of the ultrasound calibration phantom to a transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) stepper; and a guide for at least one surgical instrument, the guide being mechanically coupled to the fiducial structure and/or to the TRUS stepper at a selected pose relative to the fiducial structure. A calibration method uses the calibration phantom and provides automatic, intraoperative calibration of ultrasound imaging systems. The invention is useful in ultrasound-guided clinical procedures. | 05-01-2014 |
20140276001 | Device and Method for Image-Guided Surgery - In one aspect the invention provides a reference device that enhances image-guided surgical interventions. The reference device is tracked by the imaging system and used to verify the accuracy of the intervention tool placement before and during the intervention. The reference device holds a reference sensor in a position aligned with patient anatomy, so that images are displayed in the correct orientation to the operator, aiding in target recognition and better navigation. Also provided are methods using the reference device and programmed computer media for implementing at least a part of the methods. | 09-18-2014 |
