SYSTEM AND METHOD OF MESSAGE DELIVERY IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION NETWORK - A router system maintains a status of a wireless device of either available or unavailable. The status of available may be indicative of the wireless device being in-coverage with a wireless network, whereas the status of unavailable may be indicative of the wireless device being out-of-coverage with the wireless network. The router system is adapted to receive, from a host service, a user data message that is addressed to an address of the wireless device. The user data message has a user data payload and one or more request parameters, where the one or more request parameters instruct the router system on whether to return at least a portion of the user data message to the host service when the device status is unavailable. In response to the user data message being received at the router system when the device status is available, the router system delivers the user data message to the wireless device via the wireless network. In response to the user data message being received at the router system when the device status is unavailable, the router system fails to delivery the user data message to the wireless device but sends the at least user data message portion to the host service. | 09-17-2009

Endless Cord Exercise Machine with Rotary Viscous Dampers - An endless cord exercise machine in which a user applies a continuous pulling motion to a cord that is attached to a resistance mechanism is disclosed. The machine may be arranged to simulate the acts of rope climbing or of scaling a wall with the assistance of a rope, or may be arranged to provide other types of upper and lower body muscle development. The resistance mechanism is ideally comprised of a plurality of rotary viscous dampers of differing viscosities housed in a rotating drum. A spring-loaded adjustment key mechanism extending through the hub of the drum and dampers allows the user to selectively engage any combination of dampers to provide exercise resistance. | 05-28-2009

METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE QUANTITY OF MICROBIOLOGICAL OBJECTS DURING CULTIVATION THEREOF - A method for determining the quantity of microbiological objects during the cultivation thereof comprises determining a modification of studied microorganism cells' population, measuring the morphological composition thereof by determining the cells' size distribution in a liquid medium according to intensity changes of the light dispersed thereby. The method comprises probing a liquid flow by monochromatic coherent light, recording signals relating to the interaction between the probing radiation and the cells by measuring amplitudes and durations of impulses of the light dispersed by medium particles, plotting functions, according to measurement results, as two-dimensional distributions of normalized values of the amplitudes and durations in the form of statistic parameters of the dispersed light intensity. According to the functions, the size distribution of the cells and decomposition products of the liquid nutrient medium during the cultivation thereof are obtained. The invention can be applied for medical diagnostics and for control of biotechnological processes. | 02-25-2010

Apparatus for Translating and Expanding Inputs for a Point Of Sale Device - An apparatus includes a PS2 input for receiving first input logic signals from a first device. A USB input receives second input logic signals from a second device. A RS232 input receives third input logic signals from a third device. A TTL input receives fourth input logic signals from a fourth device. A programmed logic circuit translates the first input logic signals, the second input logic signals, the third input logic signals and the fourth input logic signals to first output logic signals having a RS232 output. The programmed logic circuit further translates the first input logic signals, the second input logic signals, the third input logic signals and the fourth input logic signals to second output logic signals having a TTL output. A RS232 output transmits the first output logic signals to a POS device and a TTL output transmits the second output logic signals to a POS device. Input Ports for logic signals may be distinct in cases where a signal translation function is sought. Input Ports for logic signals may also be repeated for the same input logic where an expansion function is sought. | 07-28-2011

SIP SERVER OVERLOAD DETECTION AND CONTROL - The current invention is related to a system and a method for session overload protocol (SIP) server overload detection and control. The current invention proceeds by receiving SIP messages at the SIP server from a communications network; processing the received SIP messages; detecting an overload based on a trigger condition as a result of receiving and processing SIP messages; and transitioning the SIP server to an overload state and applying appropriate control actions to mitigate the detected overload. | 04-29-2010

Method and means to modulate programmed cell death in eukaryotic cells - The invention provides for the use of isolated polynucleotides encoding maize poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) proteins to produce eukaryotic cells and organisms, particularly plant cells and plants, with modified programmed cell death. Eukaryotic cells and organisms particularly plant cells and plants, are provided wherein either in at least part of the cells, preferably selected cells, the programmed cell death (PCD) is provoked, or wherein, on the contrary, PCD of the cells or of at least part of the cells in an organism is inhibited, by modulation of the level or activity or PARP proteins in those cells. | 08-13-2009
