20120013461MICROPROCESSOR CONTROLLED SECURITY TAG - A microprocessor controlled security tag and accompanying security system is described. The tag generally includes a housing having external contacts to interface with elongated contacts on a connecting band. The band forms a complex impedance circuit with a patient's limb that allows detection features such as removal and band compromise. A microprocessor and related circuitry as well as a transmitter and receivers are enclosed in the housing. The tag is adapted to communicate inductively with an activator/deactivator unit as well as a tag programmer that updates and changes tag features in the tag firmware. The overall system further includes a hub to receive the data from a plurality of tags in the system. The tag can also communicate with a phased multiple antenna that sends signals to the tag.01-19-2012

20100324670SADDLE-SHAPED MITRAL VALVE ANNULOPLASTY PROSTHESES WITH ASYMMETRY, AND RELATED METHODS - A mitral valve annuloplasty prosthesis (ring or C) has a generally saddle shape, i.e., portions of the prosthesis that are or will be adjacent the anterior and posterior commissures of the valve are relatively low as compared to at least some other portions of the prosthesis that are or will be between the commissures. However, the saddle shape is asymmetrical, in that the portion that is or will be adjacent the posterior commissure is lower than the portion that is or will be adjacent the anterior commissure.12-23-2010

20100125536TECHNIQUES FOR ILLUSTRATING AND ANALYZING COLLEGE SAVINGS PLANS - Analyzing educational saving plans by considering the tax implications of these plans is provided by storing a plurality of educational institution identifiers and a plurality of educational savings plan parameter sets. Each of the educational institution identifiers is associated with a corresponding set of cost parameters specifying room, board, and tuition costs for the respective educational institution. Each of the educational savings plan parameter sets specifies a characteristic of a corresponding educational savings plan. A comparative analysis of educational savings plans is generated by applying a retrieved set of cost parameters for each educational plan parameter sets. This comparative analysis takes into consideration tax implications of an educational savings plan. The results of the comparative analysis are outputted on a display and/or printout so that an investor can determine which of the plurality of educational savings plans best meets their needs.05-20-2010

20110046919Method for accurate measurement of enzyme activities - This invention relates to a novel method for the use of specialized equipment to significantly improve the accuracy with which enzyme activities are measured. The method establishes an internal standard mathematical curve for the measurement of relative values for each unit in a complex mixture. The novel feature of the method is that the control is an integral part of each and every sample, so that any variation in test conditions affects the control in exactly the same manner as the sample. Therefore, this novel method forces each measured sample to have a separate control internal to each sample that is exactly matched as to all possible variables. Although some prior methods claim an internal control, the prior methods provide only a rough calibration to an external control, which results in substantial deficiencies in accuracy, reliability, and efficiency.02-24-2011
