| 20100235290 | Method and apparatus for enabling purchasers of products to obtain return information and to initiate product returns via an on-line network connection - An electronic registration system facilitates authorized product returns and reduces the incidence of improper returns. A retailer sales associate is prompted to enter individual product identification information such as an individual serial number. This individual product identification information is then stored in a data base along with the date on which the product was sold and an appropriate UPC code, SKU number or manufacturer code. A check digit algorithm may be used to verify the serial number prior to storage. A sales receipt may be imprinted with at least the date of the transaction and the serial number. When a product is returned, the retailer may cross-reference the serial number on the product with that on the receipt to verify the sales receipt. Otherwise, the database may be searched for pertinent sales information. A customer may also access a return authorization engine via the Internet to obtain return approval, an authorization number, return instructions, etc. to reduce retailer hassle. | 09-16-2010 |

| 20120072051 | Trackless Transit System with Adaptive Vehicles - Technologies are described herein for providing a trackless transit system and controlling adaptive trackless vehicles within that system. Aspects include an autonomous vehicle transit system for controlling vehicle movement of trackless vehicles in the transit system. The system includes a command, control and orchestration system (CCOS) and vehicle controllers. Each vehicle controller is associated with a trackless vehicle and communicates a current location to the CCOS, receives a navigation command, and controls the trackless vehicle according to the navigation command. Further, the CCOS provides navigation commands to the vehicle controllers to control movements of the trackless vehicles within the transit system according to vehicle position information received from the vehicle controllers. According to embodiments, a trackless vehicle may be switched between a driver controlled mode in which the vehicle is controlled by a driver and a system controlled mode in which the vehicle is controlled by the CCOS. | 03-22-2012 |

| 20090169833 | HIGHLY TAILORED STIFFENING FOR ADVANCED COMPOSITES - Described herein are composites that are composed of a plurality of plies with a stiffening grid intimately embedded within the composite. The composite structures have the improved buckling performance characteristics of known isogrid and orthogrid composite structures and yet have a significantly higher damage tolerance that permits such structures to be used in the formation of aircraft and spacecraft designs. Also described herein are methods for making the composites. | 07-02-2009 |
