20090036710Process For Producing Carboxylic Acid - A process for producing a purified carboxylic acid having “n+1” carbon atoms comprises feeding a carboxylic acid stream containing a carboxylic acid having “n+1” carbon atoms, a hydrogen halide, a lower boiling point (bp) component, a higher bp component, and others to a first distillation column; separating a lower bp fraction containing part of the lower bp component and a higher bp fraction containing part of the higher bp component in the first column; withdrawing a side stream containing at least the carboxylic acid by side cut from the first column; feeding the side stream to a second distillation column; separating a lower bp fraction containing part of the lower bp component and a higher bp fraction containing part of the higher bp component in the second column; and withdrawing a side stream containing the carboxylic acid by side cut from the second column to recover a purified carboxylic acid; and the process further comprises feeding at least one first component (A) selected from the group consisting of an alcohol, corresponding to the carboxylic acid, having “n” carbon atom(s), and an ester of the alcohol with the carboxylic acid to the first column, and if necessary water. Such a process ensures reduction of the concentration of the hydrogen halide in the purified carboxylic acid.02-05-2009
20090082593Process for the Production of Acetic Acid - A process produces acetic acid by continuously carrying out a reaction of methanol with carbon monoxide in the presence of a Group VIII metal catalyst, an iodide salt, methyl iodide, and water in a reactor, continuously withdrawing a reaction mixture from the reactor, introducing the reaction mixture into an evaporation process at a pressure lower than that in the reaction to separate the reaction mixture into low-boiling components and high-boiling components containing the Group VIII metal and the iodide salt, and recycling the separated high-boiling components containing the Group VIII metal and the iodide salt to the reactor, in which the separated high-boiling components are brought into contact with hydrogen at temperatures of 80° C. or higher for 6 seconds or longer before the high-boiling components reaching the reactor, which hydrogen is introduced in an amount of 0.1 time by mole or more that of the Group VIII metal. According to the process, industrially, acetic acid is efficiently produced with high productivity, because the activity of a catalyst in a reactor may be increased without increasing a hydrogen partial pressure in the reactor more than necessary, and a shift reaction may be suppressed to thereby reduce by-products.03-26-2009

20100195313LIGHT-DIFFUSING FILM AND APPARATUS PROVIDED WITH THE SAME - A light-diffusing film comprises a light-diffusing layer (e.g., an anisotropic light-diffusing layer), and the light-diffusing layer comprises a continuous phase comprising a polycarbonate-series resin (a polycarbonate-series resin having a number average molecular weight of 15000 to 25000) and a dispersed phase comprising a polypropylene-series resin (a metallocene-catalyzed polypropylene-series random copolymer). A transparent layer may be laminated on at least one side of the light-diffusing layer. The light-diffusing layer may substantially be free from a compatibilizing agent. In spite of a use of the polycarbonate-series resin, the dispersed phase can uniformly be formed. Therefore, the film is suitable for a member of a plane light source device or a display apparatus. The light-diffusing film inhibits a change in a light-diffusing characteristic even under a high temperature.08-05-2010
