20090288429Automatic recovery system for frozen product machines - A recovery system for a frozen product dispenser accommodates automatic recovery and continued operation of the dispenser in response to the output torque of a beater bar and scraper assembly drive motor exceeding a selected upper limit due to transient conditions. A controller monitors the output torque of the drive motor and, upon sensing an output torque in excess of the selected upper limit, shuts off the drive motor and operates a refrigeration system to defrost a freeze barrel within which the beater bar and scraper assembly is rotated, for a time sufficient to defrost product in the barrel. The controller then turns on the drive motor, operates the refrigeration system to refreeze product in the barrel and continues to monitor the output torque of the drive motor. The foregoing operation is repeated several times, if and as necessary, before a system error is generated.11-26-2009

20090292395Detection and correction of reverse operation of a compressor in a refrigeration system - A method and system for detecting and correcting unintended reverse or backward operation of an electric motor driven scroll compressor of a refrigeration system is characterized by monitoring the pressure at a suction side of the compressor during operation of the refrigeration and determining whether the pressure, after a first time interval following startup of the compressor, exceeds and remains in excess of a predetermined upper pressure limit for at least a second time interval. If it does, the compressor is turned off for a third time interval and is then restarted. The foregoing is repeated and if the compressor is turned off a selected number of times because of successive occurrences of high suction side pressures during operation of the refrigeration system in a chilling cycle, an error indication is generated and the refrigeration system is shut down.11-26-2009

An intermediate space is defined between the first layer and the second layer. A seam substantially spans the partitioned laminating jacket along a first axis. The first layer and the second layer are bonded along the seam, and the intermediate space is partitioned into a first receiving area and a second receiving area by the seam.09-17-2009
20100226735APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR BINDING SHEETS - A binding spine for binding together stacks of sheets. The binding spine includes a first member, a second member spaced from the first member, and a connector connecting the first member and the second member to define a preliminary stack insertion gap therebetween prior to binding. The connector allows the first member and the second member to be collapsed toward each other to define a final gap therebetween that is less than the preliminary stack insertion gap.09-09-2010

20110081321OMENTUM AS A SOURCE OF STROMAL/STEM CELLS AND MEDICAL TREATMENTS USING STROMAL/STEM CELLS - Methods for generating and using omentum cells, and particularly stromal cells and/or omentum stem cells, in medical treatments such as tissue repair and regeneration to facilitate healing from traumatic injury to an abdominal organ, and immune modulation treatments such as suppression of immune responses and inflammation and prevention of tissue fibrosis. According to one aspect, a medical procedure is performed on a patient that involves harvesting omental tissue from the patient, and then transferring the omental tissue to an organ of the patient. At least a portion of the harvested omental tissue may be activated prior to transferring the omental tissue to the organ. Alternatively, the transferred omental tissue may comprise non-lymphoid cells isolated from the omentum tissue and obtained by homogenizing at least a portion of the harvested omental tissue. The invention also encompasses a medical procedure comprising the transfer of omental stem cells to a patient, and a procedure comprising in vitro activation of omental stem cells by T cells to enhance immunomodulatory functions of the omental stem cells.04-07-2011

20090149313Mixed Matrix Membranes Containing Low Acidity Nano-Sized SAPO-34 Molecular Sieves - The present invention discloses mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) containing polymer-functionalized low acidity, ultra low silica-to-alumina ratio, nano-sized SAPO-34 small pore molecular sieves and a continuous polymer matrix and methods for making and using these membranes. The surface functionalization of these molecular sieves provides a desired interfacial adhesion between SAPO-34 nano-particles and the continuous polymer matrix, which results in either no macrovoids or voids of less than 5 angstroms at the interface of the continuous polymer matrix and SAPO-34 in the MMMs. These MMMs, in the form of symmetric dense film, asymmetric flat sheet membrane, or asymmetric hollow fiber membranes, have good flexibility and high mechanical strength, and exhibit remarkably enhanced CO06-11-2009

20090061369Multi-response time burner system for controlling combustion driven pulsation - A combustion system having at least one wall enclosing a combustion chamber and forming a plurality of burner or burner nozzle openings. Disposed within each of the openings is a premix burner or burner nozzle, each of which has a premixed fuel/oxidant outlet proximate the combustion chamber and a fuel/oxidant inlet distal from the combustion chamber. At least a portion of the premix burners or burner nozzles are sized to produce different fuel/oxidant delivery disturbance response times in response to a pressure disturbance within the combustion system. Differences in fuel/oxidant delivery response times are achieved by using burners or burner nozzles having different internal dimensions, different volume flow rates, and, optionally, by varying the fuel/oxidant ratios of the mixtures flowing through the burners or burner nozzles.03-05-2009
20090205490METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR HUMIDIFYING AIR WITH WATER VAPOR EXTRACTED FROM MOISTURE-LADEN FLUE GAS - A method and apparatus for humidifying air in which the first side of a permselective water transport membrane is contacted with water vapor laden flue gas from a combustion process having a first water vapor partial pressure and a first temperature and at least a portion of the water vapor is condensed, producing condensed water. The condensed water is transported through the membrane to the opposite side of the membrane, which is contacted with an air stream having a second water vapor partial pressure, which second water vapor partial pressure is less than the first water vapor partial pressure, and having a second temperature, which second temperature is less than the first temperature. Upon contact with the air stream, the condensed water evaporates into the air stream, resulting in a humidified air stream.08-20-2009
