20110143359Method for Identifying Drug-Sensitizing Antisense DNA Fragments and Use Thereof - The invention provides a method for generating and selecting drug-sensitizing antisense DNA fragments. In one embodiment, the method includes identifying a gene of interest using knowledge of bacterial physiology, biochemistry, genetics, genomics, and other means. The method includes PCR amplification of a gene of interest using genomic DNA as a template; fragmentation of the DNA by sonication or other means; selecting DNA fragments no longer than 400 base pairs; ligating the DNA fragments into a suitable expression plasmid with a selectable marker; transforming the plasmids containing the DNA fragments into the organism from which the gene of interest originated; and selecting clones from transformed cells that show a phenotypic difference of the clone grown in the presence of the inducer relative to the phenotype in the absence of inducer.06-16-2011
20110294774IDENTIFICATION AND APPLICATION OF ANTIBIOTIC SYNERGY - The present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition useful for treating bacterial infections in humans and animals which comprises administering to a human or animal in need thereof, an antibacterially effective combination of a β-lactam antibiotic and an inhibitor of any bacterial peptidoglycan biosynthesis enzyme, especially GlmU, GlmU, MurA, MurB, MurC, MurD, MurE, MurF, MurG, MraY, and UppS. Further provided is a method of discovering synergists for antibiotics including: a) expressing in a cell an antisense nucleic acid against a nucleic acid encoding a gene product so as to reduce the activity or amount of the gene product in the cell, thereby producing a cell sensitized to an antibiotic; b) characterizing the sensitization of the cell to the antibiotic and selecting pairs of antibiotics and genes that result in antibiotic efficacy at one-fifth or less the concentration required in the absence of the antisense gene; c) screening for chemical compounds that inhibit the gene product corresponding to the selected synergistic gene; and d) selecting or creating chemical analogs that inhibit the gene product corresponding to the selected synergistic gene such that the inhibition occurs in the bacteria.12-01-2011

20120027256Automatic Media Sharing Via Shutter Click - A computer-implemented method for automatically sharing media between users is provided. Collections of images are received from different users, where each collection is associated with a particular user and the users may be associated with each other. The collections are grouped into one or more albums based on the content of the images in the collection, where each album is associated with a particular user. The albums from the different users are grouped into one or more event groups based on the content of the albums. The event groups are then shared automatically, without user intervention, between the different users based on their associations with each other and their individual sharing preferences.02-02-2012

20120084111SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ADAPTIVE MULTIPLE CONTACT ASSIGNMENT - Embodiments of the present invention generally relate to a system and method for adaptively assigning multiple contacts to an agent determined by that agent's current metrics data or effectiveness measure. In one embodiment, there is provided a method for adaptively assigning multiple contacts to an agent in a contact center, comprising providing a reporting engine containing an agent's metrics; providing an assignment engine for assigning multiple contacts to the agent based upon the agent's metrics received from the reporting engine; storing each contact being served by the agent with at least one agent metrics element to be measured by the reporting engine; updating the agent's metrics in the reporting engine based upon the measured at least one metrics element; comparing the agent's updated metrics with stored target metrics; and assigning multiple contacts to the agent when the agent's metrics is within the target metrics.04-05-2012
