WIDE BAND AND RADIO FREQUENCY WAVEGUIDE AND HYBRID INTEGRATION IN A SILICON PACKAGE - A device includes a device wafer having a circuit component formed thereon and having vias formed therein and a cap wafer bonded to the device wafer. The cap wafer has a cavity therein. The cavity has a post formed therein, and the post is positioned to mechanically support the vias formed in the device wafer. The cavity has a volume, the volume substantially enclosing the circuit component formed on the device wafer. The cavity has a width and height such that an impedance of a transmission line is dependent upon the width and height of the cavity, or the impedance of a transmission line is dependent upon the width of a center conductor within the cavity. | 01-28-2010

Crimped/swaged-on tubing termination apparatus, systems and methods - A tubing termination comprises a termination portion adapted to make a fluid connection and a tube attachment portion, adapted to receive a tube and to be crimped or swaged. The tube attachment portion comprises a retention mechanism that is adapted to be manipulated during crimping or swaging to bite the tube so as to lock the tube attachment portion relative to the tube. This retention mechanism may take the form of a deformable bite ring, a deflectable c-insert, irregularities defined on an inner surface of the tube attachment portion, and/or the like. The tube attachment portion also may include a resilient sealing mechanism adapted to provide a seal between the tube and the tube attachment portion, and thereby a fluid-tight connection between the tube and the termination portion. | 08-28-2008

Hydraulic pump with control system - A hydraulic motor is driven by a fixed displacement, three stage gear-type pump. The three equal displacement sections provide 3 equally-stepped flows so that the hydraulic motor can have three speeds. Valving and controls are provided for remote on-the-fly shifting of the speeds, automatic pump unloading in neutral, and adjustable maximum pressure. A closed loop system permits use of a relatively small reservoir. The contamination tolerance of the system is greater than that of variable displacement piston-type pumps typically used. Direct recirculation of hydraulic fluid is provided for unused speeds to permit hydraulic fluid to recirculate in the pump without doing work. A unique control circuit is provided to control the first speed valve in conjunction with a logic cartridge which controls hydraulic motor direction to permit fluid flow to the hydraulic motor to be stopped when coming to neutral without slamming the hydraulic motor and rotating drill pipe to a stop. The first speed valve also acts as a relief valve to provide a mechanism for adjusting maximum system pressure. | 06-25-2009

AUTHENTICATING VOICE CALLS FROM MOBILE DEVICES - Aspects relate to authorizing mobile devices for PBX-based voice services. A mobile device calls a PBX over a voice channel, and phone number identifier information is obtained and matched to identifier information for devices that known (authorizeable) to use the PBX. If there is one incoming call that matches to a given device, and an authentication token provided over a data channel matches an authentication token associated with that device, then the device is authorized for voice services. Where there are multiple matching calls, those devices are instructed to provide authentication tokens over their voice channels. The devices can detect absence of a data channel and provide authentication tokens over the voice channels; the devices also can wait to receive a call connected response and in the absence of such provide their authentication tokens over the voice channel. Tokens can be requested and downloaded for storage at the devices. | 06-16-2011

USE OF THE IRRITATING PRINCIPAL OLEOCANTHAL IN OLIVE OIL, AS WELL AS STRUCTURALLY AND FUNCTIONALLY SIMILAR COMPOUNDS - The invention provides methods of synthesizing the purified enantiomers of oleocanthal. The invention further provides methods of using oleocanthals in various formulations including, food additives; pharmaceuticals; cosmetics; animal repellants; and discovery tools for mammalian irritation receptor genes, gene products, alleles, splice variants, alternate transcripts and the like. | 03-19-2009
