First data is stored for each of the subgroups of each of the plurality of material groups, where the first data represents an interaction between a representative material for a corresponding subgroup and radiation at a plurality of energy levels. Second data is stored representing spectral characteristics of each radioisotope of interest at the plurality of energy levels. For a radioisotope of interest, a computation is made to produce spectrum data resulting from an interaction between of the radioisotope of interest using the second data with the first data for each of the plurality of subgroups in each material group. The spectrum data is then stored in a library for later use in the field with the output from a detector. Spectrum data is stored for the particular detector to be used in the field, and to this end, such detector-specific spectrum library data may be adjusted to account for a detector's quantum efficiency and resolution characteristics.10-22-2009

20110200305LOW BANDWIDTH TELEVISION - The present invention is concerned with client-side production in a personal computer environment of low bandwidth images and audio. A series of low bandwidth still images along with a “script” and audio data is sent over a network in a client/server architecture or is read from a compact disk or other memory. A “director” module residing in a client personal computer uses the “script” to tell the computer how to execute a sequence of “moves” on the still images. These moves include cuts, dissolves, fades, wipes, focuses, flying planes and digital video effects such as push and pull. Moves within a still image occur in real time, and are relatively smooth and continuous as compared to prior art network video. Low bandwidth is achieved because most of the production is done at the client location without relying upon slow, bandwidth-limited downloading of conventional network video formats.08-18-2011

20090095276Apparatus, Systems and Methods For Facilitating Ignition Of A Solid Fuel - A charcoal starter is provided that is fully consumable through combustion. The starter takes the form of a container that includes one or more walls that define a top and bottom compartment. Solid fuel is deposited in the top compartment and kindling material is deposited in the bottom compartment. The divider allows for oxygenation and ventilation while also supporting the solid fuel in the top compartment. The starter is generally composed of a cardboard or other flammable, non-toxic material. The starter is configured such that solid fuel is supported in the top compartment for a period of time after the kindling material is lit and thereafter collapses and is completely consumed. Associated methods for igniting solid fuel, e.g., charcoal, are also disclosed.04-16-2009

20090108903LEVEL SHIFTER DEVICE - A first transistor of a level shifter provides conductivity between a reference voltage and a node of the level shifter to hold a state of the level shifter output. When an input signal of the level shifter switches, additional transistors assist in reducing the conductivity of the first transistor. This enhances the ability of the level shifter to change the state of the output in response to the change in the input signal, thereby improving the writeability of the level shifter.04-30-2009

20100271184Apparatus and Method for Monitoring and Communicating Data Associated with a Product - Visual and audio communication interface for a perishable integrity indicator system which includes a RFID transponder and perishable integrity sensor. A perishable integrity indicator system includes a RFID transponder and a perishable integrity sensor. The RFID transponder includes a RF integrated circuit coupled with an antenna. The sensor monitors the time and temperature of the perishable. A freshness determining module receives time- and temperature-dependent measurement data from the perishable integrity sensor and determines a current freshness status. A communications interface to the RFID transponder permits a RFID reader to retrieve current freshness status data corresponding to the freshness status determined by the freshness determining module. The system further includes a power management module. The visual and audio communication interface provides a communications means for sending sensor alerts, sensor setup and history as either a supplement to the RF communication or as an alternative to RF when RF is either not available or not able to communicate.10-28-2010
