20120120951METHODS AND APPARATUSES FOR PATH SELECTION IN A PACKET NETWORK - Embodiments including methods, systems, and apparatuses for distributing, processing, and reacting to path information distributed via a service-agnostic packet fabric for the purpose of enabling path selection are disclosed. By configuring two ingress line cards to send path quality words to each other via the switch fabric, compare the path quality words, and determine whether to transmit traffic to an egress line card via the switch fabric based on the comparison of the path quality words, the embodiments enable a central switch fabric to be unaware of the paths that it carries, and enable both ingress and egress bandwidth of the switch fabric to be sized according to the facilities for which it is terminating. The switch fabric does not need to support working and protection paths simultaneously in some embodiments, allowing it to be scaled appropriately to termination facilities.05-17-2012

20100101109DEVICE AND METHOD FOR INCREASING EVAPORATION RATES OF BLOW-DOWN APPARATUS - This disclosure reveals a combination of embodiments that increase the evaporation rate of liquid solutions when subjected to blow-down gas flows. Certain gas flow separator baffles or framed inserts with vanes may be especially effective to enhance evaporation when combined with aggressive blow-down flow rates and centrifugal force. The centrifugal force applied to the evaporating liquid protects sample integrity by preventing the solution(s) from splashing out of the drying container. Such splashing, when high blow-down gas flow rates are directed into the sample containers, affects yield and purity.04-29-2010

20100275866Switchable Valve Lifter Having a Mis-Assembly Indicator - An improved SHVL for an internal combustion engine comprises an improved arrangement for locking a spring tower into a pin housing. The spring tower is provided with an annular OD groove as in the prior art. The pin housing ID groove is modified to have a two-step groove comprising two adjacent regions having different depths (different diameters) and having a distinct transition lip therebetween. A spring clip of the correct size seats properly in the spring tower groove and in the lesser-diameter pin housing groove, resulting in a correct overall length of the SHVL. Any oversize clip is caught between the lower lip of the spring tower groove and the transition lip of the two-step pin housing groove, resulting in a SHVL distinctly shorter than nominal, which is easily detected by either direct length measurement or a gauge.11-04-2010

20100161530METHOD FOR ENHANCED ACCURACY IN PREDICTING PEPTIDES ELUTION TIME USING LIQUID SEPARATIONS OR CHROMATOGRAPHY - A method for predicting the elution time of a peptide in chromatographic and electrophoretic separations by first providing a data set of known elution times of known peptides, then creating a plurality of vectors, each vector having a plurality of dimensions, and each dimension representing positional information about at least a portion of the amino acids present in the known peptides. A hypothetical vector is then created by assigning dimensional values for at least one hypothetical peptide, and a predicted elution time for the hypothetical vector is created by performing at least one multivariate regression fitting the hypothetical peptide to the plurality of vectors. Preferably, the multivariate regression is accomplished by the use of an artificial neural network and the elution times are first normalized using linear regression.06-24-2010

20130151853SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SECURE PEER-TO-PEER COMMUNICATIONS - Systems and methods for secure peer-to-peer communication are disclosed herein. Various embodiments of the present invention advantageously enable authentication of a remote device, but without the use of a PKI certificate, and more generally, without requiring involvement from outside parties. In an exemplary embodiment, a password-protected message may be sent to a remote device, the password-protected message containing a unique identifier of a local device and a locally generated random number. Upon accessing the password-protected message, the remote device may reply to the local device including its own unique identifier and a remotely generated random number, where the reply is encrypted using the locally generated random number. An acknowledgement message may then be sent to the remote device including a mutually unique key, where the acknowledgement message is encrypted using the remotely generated random number. Subsequent communications between these devices may then be encrypted with this mutually unique key.06-13-2013

20090193854MULTIPLE DIRECTIONAL CLUTCH FOR WASHING MACHINE - An automatic washing machine comprises a spin tube coupled to the basket and an agitator shaft coupled to an agitator mounted in the basket. A motor coupled to the agitator shaft applies a torque the agitator shaft and thereby the agitator in first and second torque directions. A clutch couples the spin tube to the agitator shaft for cooperative rotation of the basket and the agitator regardless of the rotational direction of the agitator shaft. Because of the dual directionality of the clutch, reversing the motor simultaneously dynamically brakes the basket and the agitator, thereby eliminating the need for a separate friction brake for the basket.08-06-2009
