20100036949Centralized Scheduler for Content Delivery Network - A method for performing centralized scheduling of content delivery is described including performing admission control, locating a server that is a source of content, determining a content delivery schedule and reordering the content delivery schedule over a content delivery network (CDN). Also described is a method for performing admission control including reordering a request queue based on partially served committed requests for content and newly arrived requests for content and determining if the newly arrived request for content can be admitted to the request queue.02-11-2010
20100138869METHOD AND DEVICE FOR GENERATING ELECTRONIC SERVICE GUIDE - A method for generating Electronic Service Guide, comprising steps of: obtaining user information from a user in a digital video broadcasting network; generating a first Electronic Service Guide as a function of the user information, wherein the first Electronic Service Guide lists services provided by the digital video broadcasting network and associated with the user information; and sending the first Electronic Service Guide to the user.06-03-2010
20100246597Method and apparatus for assigning identifiers to media services - A user assigns a major and minor channel number combination to a media service which does not have such a pre-existing combination, where such a media service is accessed by using such a channel combination without having to resort to the typical means of accessing the media service, such as using a web site URL or radio frequency. Optionally, the invention will automatically update the minor numbers associated with a media service when older versions of the media service become unavailable.09-30-2010
20100250655Methods for delivering and receiving interactive multimedia - A method used in a service providing device for delivering interactive multimedia content to a plurality of client devices, comprising: receiving a request for the interactive multimedia content, from at least one of the plurality of client devices; disabling the plurality of client devices from sending the request to the service providing device, according to a predetermined condition; and delivering the interactive multimedia content to the plurality of client devices.09-30-2010
20110099449METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FEC ENCODING AND DECODING - A method for Forward Error Correction (FEC) encoding in a transmitter, the method comprising: receiving a data stream from a data source; generating a first Forward Error Correction data for respective data block with a first block size of the data stream; and generating a second Forward Error Correction data for respective data block with a second block size of the data stream, wherein the second block size is different with the first block size and wherein the data blocks of the first block size form the data stream, and the data blocks with the second block size form the data stream.04-28-2011
20110194431SELECTION OF TRIGGERING EVENTS/ELEMENTS FOR FOR RELAXED DETERMINISTIC BACK-OFF METHOD - In the context of IEEE 802.11 WLAN networks, enhancement to the Relaxed Deterministic Backoff (R-DEB) for random access of shared (Medium Access Control MAC) method. For all available candidate resource slots, a busy index is calculated that reflects the level of use/occupation in the past and infers a probability of use in the future by another concurring device. The method assumes the use of a sub-set of resource slots for transmission, and updates this set by replacing resource slots for which collisions are frequent with a not currently used candidate resource for which the busy index is the lowest. Passive Spoofing/overhearing of all resources for clear channel assessment (CCS) is used for resource monitoring purposes.08-11-2011
20110219039TECHNIQUE FOR CUSTOMIZING CONTENT - Content can be advantageously customized by use of an accompanying rich media file that characterizes segments in the content file. To perform such customization, the rich media file undergoes parsing (e.g., examination) to identify a location for an overlay in the least one segment of the content file. Thereafter, an overlay is inserted into the at least one content segment. In practice, the overlay is inserted to block objectionable material in the content segment, but the overlay can be inserted to add material, such as to insert an advertisement or a sub-title for example. Inserting the overlay can include physically overlaying a cover layer onto one or more frames of the content segment to add information or block objectionable material in the content segment.09-08-2011
20110264977METHOD FOR RECEIVING AND TRANSMITTING DATA BLOCKS - The present invention provides a scalable and reliable feedback suppression method for receiving and transmitting data block. The method comprises receiving at least one initial data packet of the data block which is sent by the transmitter to the multicast group of receivers; and sending at least one NAK packet indicating packet loss to the transmitter by at least one receiver of the multicast group, wherein the at least one NAK packet is sent in a single uplink time slot dedicated to said multicast group of receivers, and wherein the NAK packet is identical for all receivers of said multicast group.10-27-2011
