The fuel injector is equipped with a fuel pressure sensor, a sensor circuit such as an amplifier, and a valve actuator such as a piezoelectric actuator. The fuel injector also includes a conductive shield which is disposed between the sensor circuit and actuator drive terminals to supply electric power to the actuator and works to shield the sensor circuit from electric noises arising from the drive terminals, thereby minimizing the addition of the noises to an output of the fuel pressure sensor, as being processed in the sensor circuit, and ensuring the accuracy in determining the pressure of fuel based on the output of the fuel pressure sensor.05-07-2009
20090118983FUEL INJECTOR DESIGNED TO MINIMIZE MECHANICAL STRESS ON FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR INSTALLED THEREIN - A fuel injector for an internal combustion engine is provided. The fuel injector is to be installed in a cylinder head of the engine and has a fuel pressure sensor working to measure the pressure of fuel within a injector body. The fuel pressure sensor is installed in a portion of the injector body which is to be located away from the cylinder head of the engine across a portion of the injector body on which a mechanical pressure is exerted by an external member such as a fuel supply pipe or a fuel drain pipe, thereby keeping the fuel pressure sensor free from internal stress, as arising from the mechanical pressure exerted on the injector body, to ensure the accuracy in measuring the pressure of the fuel.05-07-2009
20090241650FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR/SENSOR MOUNT ASSEMBLY, FUEL INJECTION APPARATUS, AND PRESSURE SENSING APPARATUS - A fuel pressure sensor/sensor mount assembly in which a fuel pressure sensor is so mounted as to exposed to a high-pressure fuel path through which fuel is supplied to a fuel injector, a fuel injection apparatus equipped with a built-in fuel pressure sensor, and a pressure sensing apparatus working to measure the pressure of fuel in a fuel injector are provided. The fuel pressure sensor/sensor mount assembly is disposed between the high-pressure fuel path and the fuel injector, thus permitting the size of the fuel injector to be minimized without sacrificing the accuracy in measuring the pressure of the fuel. The fuel injection apparatus and the a pressure sensing apparatus are designed to ensure desired accuracy in measuring the pressure of the fuel.10-01-2009
20090241907FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR/SENSOR MOUNT ASSEMBLY - A fuel pressure sensor/sensor mount assembly for use in a fuel injection system equipped with fuel injectors which inject fuel, as supplied from an accumulator through fuel pipes, into a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine mounted in an engine compartment of a vehicle. The assembly includes a connector unit and fuel pressure sensors. The connector unit has formed therein a plurality of communication paths each of which is to establish a connection between one of the fuel injectors and the accumulator through one of the fuel pipes. The connector unit also has formed therein sensor mounts exposed to the communication paths. Each of the fuel pressure sensors is disposed in the sensor mount to measure the pressure of the fuel in the communication path. This structure permits steps of installing the fuel pressure sensors within the engine compartment to be decreased and ensures desired measurement accuracy of the fuel pressure sensors.10-01-2009
20090248276FUEL INJECTOR WITH BUILT-IN FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR - A fuel injector for an internal combustion engine is provided which has a fuel supply path and a nozzle chamber. The fuel supply path extends a spray hole. The nozzle chamber is defined in the fuel supply path. A nozzle is disposed within the nozzle chamber to establish or block a fluid communication between the fuel supply path and the spray hole. A fuel pressure sensor is installed in the fuel injector so as to be exposed to the fuel in the nozzle chamber. Specifically, the fuel pressure sensor is located closer to the spray hole than a prior art structure in which the fuel pressure sensor is installed in a fuel supply pipe, thus resulting in increased accuracy in measuring a change in pressure of the fuel arising from the spraying of the fuel from the spray hole.10-01-2009
20100096480FUEL INJECTOR WITH FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR - A fuel injector which may be employed in injecting fuel into an internal combustion engine. The fuel injector includes an injector body and a head body formed to be separate from the injector body. The head body has installed therein a fuel pressure sensor working to measure the pressure of fuel in the fuel injector and is joined detachably to the injector body. The fuel injector alternatively includes an injector body and a fuel pressure-sensing unit equipped with a fuel pressure sensor. The fuel pressure-sensing unit is installed detachably on the injector body. This structure provides enhanced productivity of the fuel injector and facilitate the ease of replacement of the fuel pressure sensor.04-22-2010
20100252001FUEL INJECTOR WITH FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR AND ELECTRICAL INTERCONNECTION METHOD OF THE SAME - In a fuel injector, a body has formed therein a spray hole and a fuel supply passage. Fuel supplied to the fuel supply passage is delivered to the spray hole. A fuel pressure sensor produces a signal indicative of a pressure of the fuel. First terminals are attached to the fuel pressure sensor and include a terminal for outputting the signal. The fuel pressure sensor is threadedly installed in the body while the first terminals are rotated. A connector includes a housing attached to the body, and second terminals supported by the housing for external electric connection of the fuel pressure sensor. Wires are operative to establish electrical connection between the first terminals and the second terminals. A wire holder is configured to hold each of the plurality of wires at least partly around the fuel pressure sensor.10-07-2010
