20110053600MACROCELL TO FEMTOCELL AND FEMTOCELL TO FEMTOCELL HANDOFF - A Wireless Soft Switch (WSS) and method for handing off a Mobile Station (MS) from a Macrocell Base Station (MBS) to Femtocell Base Station (FBS), and a FBS and method for handing off from the FBS to another FBS, are provided. A method for handing off an MS from an MBS to a target FBS in a wireless network receiving, by a Wireless Soft Switch (WSS), a message indicating that handoff of an MS to an FBS should be performed, determining, by the WSS, one or more candidate FBSs for the handoff, determining, by the WSS, the target FBS, from the one or more candidate FBSs, to which the MS is to handoff, and exchanging messages with the MS, MBS, and the target FBS for the handoff of the MS from the MBS to the target FBS.03-03-2011
20110098027System and method for spectrum split for 1X and HRPD operations of femtocell - A femtocell management system can configure a femtocell base station in a wireless communications network. The femtocell management system determines a list of carriers available per a technology type, without operator action, on per county basis using the county carrier information, Macro database information and resource configuration table. The femtocell management system transmits the list of carriers available per a technology type to the femtocell base station and list of common carriers used by Macro base stations on a county level. The femtocell base station can receive this information and can select an operation carrier from the list of carriers available per a technology type on a county level. The femtocell base station also can use the list of carriers to determine locally available carriers. If no available carriers exist, the femtocell base station can select an operation carrier based on common carriers used by Overlay Macro base stations.04-28-2011

20090059867Cell Base Station Neighbor List Self Configuration - A code division multiple access telecommunications network including an underlay base station in a private premises and a plurality of overlay macro base stations. The underlay base station includes a GPS receiver and a mobile unit receiver. The underlay base station uses its geographic location to obtain information identifying macro base stations within a preselected distance of the underlay base station. It uses the mobile receiver to measure pilot signal strength of the macro base stations. It generates a neighbor list of the identified macro base stations ranked according to pilot signal strength.03-05-2009
20090059868Cell Base Station Radio Frequency Channel Selection - A code division multiple access telecommunications network including an underlay base station in a private premises and a plurality of overlay macro base stations. The underlay base station includes a GPS receiver and a mobile unit receiver. The underlay base station uses its geographic location to obtain information identifying base stations within a preselected distance of the underlay base station. It uses the mobile receiver to measure signal strength of the base stations. It automatically selects as an operating frequency a channel dedicated to underlay stations or an unused channel allocated for macro base stations or a macro base station frequency which results in minimum interference. The mobile unit receiver may be used to identify the frequency with lowest signal level at the underlay station.03-05-2009
20090059869Pseudorandom Noise Selection Method for Mobile Communication Sites - A method for allocating a pseudorandom noise identifier (PN) to a home base station (HBS) is provided. The method includes determining the location of the HBS, determining the PNs in use adjacent to the HBS, and using the location of the HBS and the PNs in use to select a PN for the HBS.03-05-2009
20090059870Method to Filter Unauthorized Mobile Devices in Code Division Multiple Access Networks - A method for managing an attempted connection between a home base station (HBS) and a device not registered with the HBS is provided. The method includes transferring the connection when the attempted connection can be transferred to a traditional base station. When the attempted connection cannot be transferred to a traditional base station, it is determined whether a portion of the resources of the HBS can be used by the device not registered with the HBS. When a portion of the resources can be used, the portion is used. When a portion of the resources cannot be used, the attempted connection is not completed.03-05-2009
20090061858System and Method to Manage Communication Handoff - A method for reducing a failure of a handoff to a home base station (HBS) is provided. The method includes a user device promoting initiating a handoff request. Responsive to receiving the handoff request from the user device, a mobile switching center (MSC) requests a hub HBS for the user device to sense whether the user device is in range to communicate with the hub HBS. The MSC completes the handoff when the hub HBS senses that the user device is in range and prevents the handoff when the hub HBS does not sense that the user device is in range.03-05-2009
20090061937Cell Base Station Virtual RF Cage - A base station for use within a structure is provided. The base station includes an apparatus to automatically set an operating carrier power level to be effective within the structure and in a limited area surrounding the structure to promote reducing interference with mobile units outside the limited area. The base station also includes an apparatus to automatically set beacon channel power to provide service substantially within the structure.03-05-2009
20100056149Hard handoff dynamic threshold determination - A system and method for dynamic threshold determination. The system and method of operating a base station. A base station is configured to transmit a first message to a subscriber station. The first message including a first threshold for use in measuring against the serving frequency strength and a second threshold for determining one or more target base stations. The mobile station responds with messages listing zero or more target base stations. Further, the base station is configured to dynamically adjust a value of at least one of the first threshold parameter and second threshold parameter in response to a call event.03-04-2010
