20080275674Methods and apparatuses for automatically selecting a pipe in a cad - The present invention is directed to methods, systems, and apparatuses for automatically determining a object type in a computer automated design application, and more particularly to automatically determining and drawing the pipe type of a pipe in a sprinkler system CAD drawing. The present invention allows a user to make various pipe parameter choices and decisions up front, and to then draw each individual pipe without having to each time make the numerous selections and decisions required to determine that pipe's proper type. The present invention may also be used to determine other component types in non-piping related CAD designs, such as electrical wiring, for example.11-06-2008
20080303844Methods and apparatuses for placing a flexible drop in a CAD drawing - The present invention is directed to methods, systems, and apparatuses for automatically placing flexible drops in a computer automated design application, and more particularly to automatically placing and drawing flexible connections between sprinkler heads and sprinkler system pipes within a CAD drawing. The present invention allows a user to automatically place and draw flexible drops from numerous sprinkler heads to sprinkler system piping simultaneously based upon a set of user-chosen flex drop parameters. The present invention may also be utilized in other applications, such as automatically placing and drawing flexible electrical connections or flexible piping connections in non-sprinkler applications.12-11-2008
20080309678Methods and apparatuses for resolving a CAD drawing conflict with an arm around - The present invention is directed to methods, systems, and apparatuses for automatically resolving conflicts in a computer automated design application, and more particularly to utilizing an arm around to alter a graphic object to avoid an obstruction created by a second graphic object. The present invention allows a CAD user to automatically resolve conflicts between sprinkler system piping and obstructions such as heating/cooling ducts or support beams by proposing arm around solutions. The present invention may also be used to resolve conflicts in other types of piping systems or to resolve conflicts in unrelated applications.12-18-2008
20090148050Methods and apparatuses for comparing CAD drawings - Methods, apparatuses/systems, and software for comparing two drawings to create a compare drawing that includes options for highlighting added and deleted graphic objects, as well as unchanged graphic objects, and comparing one drawing to many or many drawings to many drawings, whether or not the drawings are similar. The invention includes a filtered zoom feature that enables the user to zoom in on a filtered set of graphic objects and to continue to zoom in until a single graphic object is depicted. Detailed information from selected graphic objects can be captured and placed in a list for generating schedule changes, bill of materials, and for other purposes. The invention further includes the ability to detect and report any variances between the drawings, including area differences between drawings depicting physical objects.06-11-2009
20090273598Methods and apparatuses for automatically converting objects in CAD drawing from two-dimensions to three-dimensions - Methods, apparatuses/systems, and software for converting graphic objects representing two-dimensional beams or columns within a drawing into three-dimensional beams or columns by locating all attribute labels within the drawing containing beam or column information, locating all two-dimensional graphic objects corresponding to the attribute labels, converting the attribute labels to simple text without Unicode formatting, and converting each two-dimensional graphic object into a three-dimensional graphic object based on the corresponding simple text.11-05-2009
20100121614Methods and Apparatuses for Preprocessing a CAD Drawing - Methods and systems for preprocessing a drawing to enhance its usability for subsequent viewing or modification by simplifying information displayed in the drawing, reducing the size of the drawing file, and removing unnecessary data. The invention also includes a wizard function that can record many of the functions or steps taken by a user to modify a drawing and then be used to preprocess a similar type of drawing using the recorded functions and steps.05-13-2010
20100138762Methods and Apparatuses for Handling a Conflict in a CAD Drawing - Methods, apparatuses/systems, and software for identifying and resolving conflicts within a drawing by highlighting each conflict in a unique way and generating various reflections of conflicted graphic objects to test different conflict resolution proposals.06-03-2010
20100223032Methods and Apparatuses for Proposing Resolutions to Conflicts in a CAD Drawing with Reflections - Methods, apparatuses, systems, and software for proposing a resolution to a position conflict between a graphic object within a drawing sharing a portion of, up to all of, the one or more locations of other graphic objects, comprising the steps of: identifying a proposed new location of the graphic object within the drawing that will resolve the conflict; creating a reflection of the graphic object depicting the graphic object as it would appear at the proposed new location without moving the graphic object from its location; and determining whether the proposed new location will clear the conflict by not sharing a portion of the one or more locations, including embodiments directed to the use of reflections, alert/conflict bubbles, modeless drawing windows, and clipping planes.09-02-2010
20100250615SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DIFFERENTIATING AND ASSOCIATING MULTIPLE DRAWINGS IN A CAD ENVIRONMENT - Systems and methods for facilitating CAD design of one or more structures by automatically categorizing and/or associating multiple drawings without pre-existing knowledge as to the type of drawings being categorized. In some examples, a computing system receives a set of CAD drawings from a third-party, and a host manager automatically determines which of the drawings are host, stand-alone, and external reference drawings. Moreover, the host manager can determine which of a set of external references comprises a broken reference, such as a network pathway that does not contain the desired external reference. For each broken or corrupt reference, the host manager can create a dummy (proxy) drawing that can be inserted in place of the broken reference so that the system can process (e.g., bind) the set of drawings without crashing. An interface may be further provided for displaying the categorized set of drawings to the user.09-30-2010
20100251028SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IDENTIFYING CRASH SOURCES IN A CAD ENVIRONMENT - Systems and methods that automatically identify causes of errors during one or more CAD processes, such as while binding external reference drawings to a host drawing and/or batch comparing sets of multiple drawings. In certain examples, a first session of a CAD program can be used to track potential crash occurrences during a second CAD program's processing of a set of drawings and dynamically replace corrupt drawings and/or broken references with blank (proxy) drawings so that the desired process can complete. Whenever the first CAD session detects a potential error event, such as when the second CAD session is interrupted for a particular length of time, the first CAD session can log the error, close the second session, and/or continue the desired process with a new CAD session.09-30-2010
