20100036488Therapeutic device for pain management and vision - A therapeutic lens for the treatment of an epithelial defect comprises a layer of therapeutic material disposed over the stroma and/or Bowman's membrane to inhibit water flow from the tear liquid to the stroma and/or Bowman's membrane, such that corneal deturgescence can be restored to decrease corneal swelling and light scattering. The layer may cover and protect nerve fibers to decrease pain. The layer may comprise an index of refraction to inhibit light scatter from an anterior surface of the stroma and/or Bowman's membrane. The lens may comprise a curved anterior surface that provides functional vision for the patient when the epithelium regenerates. The layer of therapeutic material can be positioned on the eye in many ways, for example with a spray that is cured to adhere the layer to the exposed surface of the stroma and/or Bowman's membrane.02-11-2010

20080264789Film-Type Solid Polymer Ionomer Sensor And Sensor Cell - A miniaturized gas sensor including film type electrodes, and a solid ionomer electrolyte, for the detection of toxic gases, i.e., carbon monoxide, and other oxidizable or reducible gases and vapors is described. The all-solid planar sensor cell has two or more film type electrodes arranged on a non-conductive planar surface of a supportive material. The electrodes are discrete and in intimate contact with the same solid polymer ionomer membrane. The sensor cell contains no liquid electrolyte and is operated in a potentiostatic or potentiodynamic mode. The unique feature of the sensor cell is that high sensitivity to a select gas or vapor is achieved by a novel three-phase contact area design for a sensing electrode which is easily accessible to the gas sample via small diffusion openings or holes that penetrate through the solid polymer ionomer membrane layer above the sensing electrode. A significant signal to background noise enhancement is achieved for these film type sensor cells by processes that increase the three-phase contact area10-30-2008

20090081338CITRUS JUICE APPARATUS WITH UNDESIRED MATERIAL RELEASE DETECTOR AND RELATED METHODS - A citrus juice apparatus may include at least one citrus juice processing device. The at least one juice processing device may include at least one juice output having a flow of juice therethrough. The at least one juice processing device upon a malfunction may cause an undesired material release along with the flow of juice into the at least one juice output. An undesired material release detector may be coupled to the at least one juice output for detecting the undesired material release. The detector may operate based upon magnetic proximity sensing of a moving filter plate within a housing of the detector. Alternatively, the detector may operate using a filter plate, and based upon pressure.03-26-2009

20080241135Methods for reducing viral load in HIV-1-infected patients - This method provides a method for reducing HIV-1 viral load in an HIV-1-infected human subject which comprises administering to the subject at a predefined interval effective HIV-1 viral load-reducing doses of (a) a humanized antibody designated PRO 140, or of (b) an anti-CCR5 receptor monoclonal antibody. This invention also provides a method for inhibiting in a human subject the onset or progression of an HIV-1-associated disorder, the inhibition of which is effected by inhibiting fusion of HIV-1 to CCR510-02-2008
20100178290Methods for reducing viral load in HIV-1 infected patients - This invention provides a method of reducing viral load in an HIV-1-infected human subject which comprises administering to the subject an effective HIV-1 viral load reducing dose of a CCR5 receptor antagonist, such as a humanized antibody designated PRO 140 or an anti-CCR5 receptor monoclonal antibody, wherein the viral load reducing dose achieves an average maximum decrease of viral load in the subject of at least 1.83 log07-15-2010

20080243613Optimization of pay per click advertisements - An advertising management service allows an advertiser to create an advertisement and associate keywords with the advertisement. The advertising management service submits the advertisement to multiple search engine advertising networks on behalf of the advertiser. Periodically, the advertising management service receives a performance indicator for the keywords from the search engine advertising networks. Using the performance indicator, the advertising management service identifies some of the keywords as low performing keywords. The advertising management service replaces the low performing keywords with new keywords on the multiple search engine advertising networks. The advertising management service may also periodically reallocate a budget for the advertisement among the multiple search engine advertising networks based on the performance indicator.10-02-2008
20080249989Integrating a hosted services system and a search system - Technologies are described herein for integrating a hosted services system and a search system. A query for an entity is received at a search system. If an entry for the entity indicates that an information site does not exist for the entity, a request to create an information site for the entity is transmitted to a hosted services system. When the hosted services system receives the request, the hosted services system utilizes provided information to create a basic information site for the entity. Once the information site has been created, a network address for the information site is returned to the search system. The search system modifies an existing entry or creates a new entry for the entity that includes the provided network address. Modifications to information regarding the entity made at the hosted services system are passed to the search system for use in updating the entry.10-09-2008
