20090013388Method and system for protecting information on a computer system - A system and method for protecting sensitive information, for example, a user's personal information, stored on a database where the information is accessible via a communications network such as the Internet. An exemplary embodiment stores the sensitive information on an off-line server. The off-line server is connected to an on-line server. The on-line server is connected to the user via the Internet. The user interfaces with the on-line server, and at a scheduled time window, the sensitive information is made available to the on-line server by the off-line server. Outside of the time window, none of the sensitive information is kept on the on-line server. Thus by placing the sensitive information on-line for only limited periods of time the risk of compromise to the sensitive information is greatly reduced.01-08-2009
20100094658PATIENT DIRECTED SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANAGING MEDICAL INFORMATION - A system and method is provided for the management of a patient's medical records by a central data repository under the direction of the patient and enabled by an entity managing records on behalf of the patient. Medical records from a plurality of the patient's healthcare providers, including past and present healthcare providers, are maintained in this central repository in a way that provides a centralized, comprehensive, and accessible medical history of the patient, as well as a comprehensive organizational structure across all records. An embodiment has the patient directed central repository as the hub in a hub-and-spoke arrangement, where each spoke goes to one of the patient's healthcare providers, both past and present. The patient's medical records are collected from all the patient's healthcare providers, then classified, stored, and organized for use by the patient, healthcare providers, and any other authorized individuals. The records in the repository can be sorted and/or selected in several different ways and displayed to the patient or to his designated medical care providers, and to certain patient designated third parties.04-15-2010

20080234220Methods and compositions for reducing viral genome amounts in a small target stem cell - Methods and compositions for reducing viral genome amounts in a target cell are provided. In the subject methods, the activity of a miRNA is inhibited in a manner sufficient to reduce the amount of viral genome in the target cell, e.g., by introducing a miRNA inhibitory agent in the target cell. Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions, kits and systems for use in practicing the subject methods. The subject invention finds use in a variety of applications, including the treatment of subjects suffering from a viral mediated disease condition, e.g., an HCV mediated disease condition.09-25-2008

20110245662Hemodynamic Detection of Circulatory Anomalies - The invention generally relates to a system, method and apparatus for detection of circulatory anomalies in the mammalian body. Particularly, apparatus is provided that allows the clinician to quantitatively determine the extent of any anomalies in the pulmonary circulation. Specifically a quantifiable agent is injected into a peripheral location, and the transit of the indicator agent is monitored. Aberrant circulation is them quantified. The preferred indicator is an injection of indocyanine green dye, detected and measured by fluorescence at a sensor location, for example, at the human ear. Quantification is carried out by using cardiac output procedures and alternatively, the use of Valsalva Maneuver is monitored at a monitor/controller providing visual cues to the patient and operator.10-06-2011

20120116767METHOD AND SYSTEM OF SPEECH EVALUATION - A method is provided for user speech performance evaluation with respect to a reference performance for which a phoneme mark-up is available. The method includes capturing input speech from the user and formatting it as frames. For a respective frame of the input speech, the method generates probability values for a plurality of phonemes, generates a probability value for a phoneme class based upon the generated probability values for a plurality of phonemes belonging to that phoneme class. For a plurality of frames of the input speech, the method further includes averaging the phoneme class probability values corresponding to the plurality of frames of the input speech. The method also includes calculating a user speech performance score based upon the average.05-10-2012
