20100023059INTERVERTEBRAL PROSTHETIC DEVICE FOR SPINAL STABILIZATION AND METHOD OF IMPLANTING SAME - A method of implanting a spinal prosthesis comprises inserting a first member between superior and inferior spinous processes associated with respective superior and inferior vertebrae. The superior and inferior vertebrae are separated by an intermediate vertebra. The method further includes inserting a second member through a channel in the first member. After the second member is inserted, the method requires removing the second member from the channel and inserting a third member through the channel. The third member has a different stiffness than the second member. Finally, the method requires anchoring the third member to the intermediate vertebra, while the third member is inserted through the channel. The third member is anchored at first and second locations disposed on respective first and second lateral sides of the intermediate vertebra.01-28-2010

20100268241METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ACCESSING THE INTERIOR OF A HIP JOINT, INCLUDING THE PROVISION AND USE OF A NOVEL TELESCOPING ACCESS CANNULA AND A NOVEL TELESCOPING OBTURATOR - A telescoping access cannula comprising: 10-21-2010
20110022091LOCAL DELIVERY OF AN ACTIVE AGENT FROM AN ORTHOPEDIC IMPLANT - A posterior spinal fixation device or dynamic spinal stabilization device or other orthopedic device includes an active agent-delivery component. The active agent-delivery component has an active agent impregnated therein or adsorbed thereon or otherwise contained therein and is configured to release the active agent locally after the device is implanted in a patient. One preferred type of implant in accordance with the invention is an implant for stabilizing a spinal motion segment that includes a spacer member positionable between adjacent spinous processes or transverse processes or other posterior spinal element, including an implanted anchor element.01-27-2011

20080234736Vertebral Stabilizer - A bio-compatible stabilization system includes one or more inserters and a connector for traversing a space between one or more bony structures. The stabilization system is designed to reduce or eliminate stress shielding effects while functioning as a tension band. The connector includes an extendable member and an over-extension limiter that limits extension of the extendable member.09-25-2008
20090156902Instruments and methods for minimally invasive tissue retraction and surgery - Methods and devices retract tissue for minimally invasive surgery in a patient. A retractor includes a working channel formed by a first portion and a second portion. The first and second portions are movable relative to one another from a first configuration for insertion that minimizes trauma to skin and tissue to an enlarged configuration after insertion to further retract skin and tissue in a minimally invasive manner. An optional intermediate retractor assembly is positionable between the first and second retractor portions to provide further tissue retraction capabilities.06-18-2009
20100198265System, Devices and method for augmenting existing fusion constructs - One technique of the present application includes: evaluating a patient having a previously implanted spinal construct and corresponding spinal fusion from an earlier procedure and determining a spinal segment adjacent to the spinal fusion is degenerating after completion of the earlier procedure. After this determination, the previously implanted spinal construct is augmented by attaching a flexible polymer elongated member to the spinal segment adjacent to the spinal fusion with a bone fastener and by coupling the flexible polymer elongated member to one or more elements of the previously implanted spinal construct. In one form, the elongated member is at least partially comprised of polyetheretherketone.08-05-2010
20110015748System, device and methods for replacing the intervertebral disc with a magnetic or electromagnetic prosthesis - One embodiment of the present application includes a spinal disk prosthesis with one end portion to form a load transmitting relationship with one vertebra of a patient's spine and another end portion to form a load transmitting relationship with another vertebra of the patient's spine. A tube connects the end portions together and a damping material is positioned inside the tube. The end portions each include a magnet to generate a corresponding magnetic field. These magnetic fields are oriented to provide a repulsive force between the end portions to provide a magnetic bearing.01-20-2011

20090131956METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PASSING SUTURE THROUGH THE LABRUM OF A HIP JOINT IN ORDER TO SECURE THE LABRUM TO THE ACETABULUM - A suture passer comprising: 05-21-2009
20090187248LORDOTIC EXPANDING VERTEBRAL BODY SPACER - An expandable medical implant for supporting bone structures includes a curved outer member to cooperatively engage a first bone structure and a curved inner member configured to cooperatively engage a second bone structure. The curved inner member is receivable within and movable relative to the curved outer member along an arc bounded by the curvature of the curved outer member. One of the curved outer and inner members may include a tapered surface and the other of the curved outer and inner members may include a scalloped surface. The implant may include a locking element disposed between the tapered and scalloped surface. The locking element is movable between a locked position engaging the tapered surface and a roughened locking surface to inhibit a decrease in the overall height of the implant and an unlocked position permitting at least an increase in the overall height of the implant.07-23-2009
20090198274METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RE-ATTACHING THE LABRUM OF A HIP JOINT - A system for securing soft tissue to bone, the system comprising: 08-06-2009
20100016892METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SECURING SOFT TISSUE TO BONE - Apparatus for securing an object to bone, the apparatus comprising: 01-21-2010
20100100137Dynamic Anchor Assembly for Connecting Elements in Spinal Surgical Procedures - Devices and methods include a multi-axial anchor assembly engageable to a vertebra and a connecting element positionable through a receiver of the anchor assembly. The anchor assembly includes a flexible member between the receiver and an anchor member of the anchor assembly, thereby providing a flexible joint in the anchor assembly for allowing limited movement after primary multi-axial capability between the receiver and the anchor member has been arrested.04-22-2010
