20100094417Dual Hook Laryngeal Cable Prosthesis (DHLCP) used to correct airflow in the larynx of horses affected with left recurrent laryngeal neuropathy - In a horse with left recurrent laryngeal neuropathy, abduction of the arytenoid cartilage on the affected side of the larynx cannot be achieved, causing progressive collapse of the arytenoid cartilage and vocal cord into the airway as negative inspiratory pressure increases. This produces airflow limitations that result in more rapid development of hypoxemia, hypercarbia, and metabolic acidosis, causing early fatigue and poor performance. Horses with left recurrent laryngeal neuropathy have a history of upper airway obstruction during exercise, including abnormal inspiratory respiratory noise and exercise intolerance. This noise is the result of air turbulence created as air passes over the affected vocal cord and ventricle, which acts as resonators. The DHLCP caudal and cranial device's are placed between the cricoid and the arytenoid cartilages and will permanently abduct the affected arytenoid cartilage. Once abducted sufficiently, it will provide unobstructed respiration during exercise, but not so much that saliva, food, and water are aspirated during swallowing.04-15-2010

20110146203WRAPPING APPARATUS AND METHOD INCLUDING METERED PRE-STRETCH FILM DELIVERY ASSEMBLY - The present disclosure provides a method and apparatus for dispensing a predetermined fixed amount of pre-stretched packaging material based upon load girth. A non-rotating ring carries a belt driven by a motor. A packaging material dispenser is mounted on a rotating ring, and the rotating ring may include a pulley that connects to the band, such that the rotating ring is driven by the drive belt. Based upon the girth of the load to be wrapped, an amount of pre-stretched packaging material to be dispensed for at least a portion of a revolution made by the rotating ring is determined. Good wrapping performance in terms of load containment (wrap force) and optimum packaging material use is obtained by dispensing a length of pre-stretched packaging material that is between approximately 90% and approximately 120% of load girth. Once the amount of packaging material to be dispensed per revolution is determined, a ratio of rotating ring drive to final pre-stretch surface speed (i.e., number of pre-stretch roller revolution/rotating ring rotation) can be set and mechanically controlled. Thus, for each revolution of the rotating ring and dispenser, an amount of packaging material is dispensed and wrapped around the load. In an alternative embodiment, the ratio is electronically controlled.06-23-2011

20110262884Soft tissue models and method of making for dental implant applications - The present invention relates to laboratory components that are used in the field of dental prosthesis and for dental implant fabrication and in particular to a spacer means such as a band, ring, or sleeve forming a soft collar which slips over the analog and slides up to the base of the set impression material near the collar of the impression coping as it emerges through the impression forming a uniform blockout around the impression coping which is recording the sub-gingival space over the top of the fixture and having a soft collar surrounding the neck of the analog insulates the top of the fixture analog from the hard stone where it couples with other components. The spacer forming the soft collar is particularly useful for orienting and indexing the modeling of dental implant restorations and to enhance and improve the fabrication process of soft tissue type models for conventional restoration techniques. It also enhances model techniques for digital scanning of cases in the laboratory. 20090134614Debris deflecting lift truck wheel guard - The debris deflecting lift truck wheel guard is comprised of a deflecting material assembly, preferably made of metal, synthetic, and/or natural materials, that is attached to a lift truck via at least one adjustable or fixed mode of attachment. The assembly is positioned so that the deflecting material extends down either in front of and/or behind the wheel toward the floor. As the truck moves, the deflecting material moves along the floor in the projected path of the wheel(s) and removes debris from that path. One debris deflecting lift truck wheel guard is needed per wheel or set of wheels to protect them all from premature wear. The debris deflecting lift truck wheel guard protects the wheel(s) of lift trucks from premature wear caused by contact with debris. This technology is unique in that it seeks to clear only the projected path of the wheel(s) of debris, as opposed to a larger portion of the floor, and it does so while the lift truck remains in normal operation.05-28-2009
