20090158650GARDEN TOOL - An apparatus configured to facilitate removal of a growing medium and the root structure of a plant surrounded by the growing medium while maintaining the integrity of the growing medium and root structure. The apparatus comprises a U-shaped connector body having a first blade and a second blade extended down there from. The first blade has a first end and a second end to which the first end of the U-shaped connector body is connected. The connection of the first blade to the U-shaped connector body is at an angle causing the first blade to extend downward when the U-shaped connector body is positioned horizontally. The second blade has a first end and a second end to which the second end of the U-shaped connector body is connected. The connection of the second blade to the U-shaped body is at an angle causing the second blade to extend downward when the U-shaped connector body is positioned horizontally. The apparatus is configured such that the distance between the first and second blade may be decreased upon applying pressure to the first and second ends of the U-shaped connector body. Decreasing the distance between the first and second blades allows for the positioning of the blades to facilitate insertion of the first and second blades down a sidewall assembly of a container cell. During insertion of the first and second blades into a container cell, the first and second blades are positioned between the interior walls of the cell sidewall assembly and a growing medium that surrounds a plant root structure. Applying pressure to the first and second ends of the u-shaped connector causes the first and second blades to press against the growing medium and facilitate removal of the growing medium upon the lifting of the apparatus.06-25-2009

20100241285TECHNIQUE FOR AGGREGATING LOADS WITH TIME-VARYING OPERATING CYCLES - Embodiments of a system, a method, and a computer-program product (e.g., software) for aggregating an energy service from a group of loads with time-varying operating cycles are described. This aggregation may be performed by an aggregator, which provides the energy service to a power-system operator. In particular, for a desired demand response, a demand-response mechanism may modify a demand response of a given load by mapping an initial operating cycle of the load before a demand-response event to a final operating cycle. In addition, the demand-response mechanism may transition the given load to a new operating cycle associated with the demand-response event using a temporal set-point trajectory. This aggregation technique may ensure that a distribution of phases of the group of loads is, on average, uncorrelated with each other, either by preserving or modifying the distribution of phases prior to the demand-response event.09-23-2010

First, one or more reactants are provided in a reaction medium, which are capable of forming the macrocyclic compound through a desired reaction pathway that includes at least cyclization, and which are further capable of forming undesired oligomers through a undesired reaction pathway that includes undesirable oligomerization. Oligomerization of such reactions in the reaction medium is modulated to reduce formation of undesired oligomers and/or to reduce separation of the undesired oligomers from the reaction medium, relative to a corresponding unmodulated oligomerization reaction, thereby maximizing yields of the macrocyclic compound. The macrocyclic compound so formed is then recovered from the reaction medium. Preferably, the macrocyclic compound spontaneously separates from the reaction medium via phase separation. More preferably, the macrocyclic compound spontaneous precipitates from the reaction medium and therefore can be easily recovered by simple filtration.08-26-2010

20080304490Systems and computer program products for header suppression in a network that guarantees in order delivery of packets - A method and computer program product for providing RTP suppression across a DOCSIS network. An index number and a set of rules are sent to a receiver. The index number indicates the type of header suppression technique (i.e., RTP header suppression) to be performed, and the set of rules define how to recreate the RTP packets on the receiving end. At least one complete RTP packet is transmitted upstream for enabling a receiver to learn the RTP header. Subsequent RTP packets are transmitted upstream for reconstruction at the receiving end. The subsequent RTP packets are comprised of delta values representing fields that dynamically change from packet to packet in an RTP header.12-11-2008
20090327845System and Method For Mitigating Burst Noise In A Communications System - A system, method and computer program product is provided for mitigating the effects of burst noise on packets transmitted in a communications system. A transmitting device applies an outer code, which may include, for example, a block code, an exclusive OR (XOR) code, or a repetition code, to one or more packets prior to adaptation of the packets for transmission over the physical (PHY) layer of the communications system, wherein the PHY layer adaptation may include FEC encoding of individual packets. The outer coded packets are then separately transmitted over a channel of the communications system. A receiving device receives the outer coded packets, performs PHY level demodulation and optional FEC decoding of the packets, and then applies outer code decoding to the outer coded packets in order to restore packets that were erased during transmission due to burst noise or other impairments on the channel.12-31-2009
20110058540System and Method for Supporting Extended Protocols in a Wireless Communication System - A system and method is provided for supporting data transfer protocols that extend beyond standard protocols used in conventional data over cable systems. A subscriber station in accordance with the invention determines, during registration, whether a base station with which it communicates is capable of supporting an extended protocol, and if it is, transfers data to the base station in accordance with the extended protocol. Additionally, a base station in accordance with the invention is notified during registration whether or not a subscriber station supports an extended protocol and stores this information. When a request for transmission opportunity is subsequently received from the subscriber station, the base station accesses the stored information to determine if the cable modem supports the extended protocol. If the subscriber station supports the extended protocol, the base station processes data received from the subscriber station during the transmission opportunity in accordance with that protocol.03-10-2011
