20090324427SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR STARTING A COMPRESSOR - A system and method for starting a compressor is provided. An amount of liquid refrigerant that is located in an oil sump of the compressor is determined. Using the determined amount of liquid refrigerant, a starting algorithm for the compressor is selected. The selected starting algorithm is configured to remove the determined amount of liquid refrigerant from the oil sump before the compressor reaches a preselected operating speed. The selected starting algorithm is then executed to start the compressor.12-31-2009
20090324428SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETECTING A FAULT CONDITION IN A COMPRESSOR - A system and method for determining a fault condition in a compressor is provided. The current of a motor drive powering the compressor and the outdoor ambient temperature are measured and used to determine if a fault condition or a potential fault condition is present in the compressor. If a fault condition is determined to be present, the compressor can be shutdown to avoid damage to the compressor. If a potential fault condition is determined, remedial action can be taken to attempt to prevent the fault condition from occurring and shutting down the compressor.12-31-2009
20110070114OIL RETURN VALVE FOR A SCROLL COMPRESSOR - A valve for selectively allowing the return of oil from a discharge plenum to a suction plenum includes a passage which is selectively opened or blocked by a valve spool. The valve spool sees a pressure from a discharge pressure location upstream of a discharge check valve on one face, and a discharge pressure from a discharge plenum on an opposed face. While the compressor is running, the two pressures should be relatively equal. The face which sees the pressure from the chamber upstream of the check valve is larger than the face which sees the pressure from the discharge plenum. Thus, when the compressor is running, the valve spool is biased to a first position at which it allows oil return from the discharge plenum to the suction plenum. However, upon shutdown of the compressor, the pressure in the chamber upstream of the discharge valve drops. The valve spool will be driven to a second position at which it blocks communication for oil return.03-24-2011
20110091341METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ESTABLISHING CLEARANCES IN SCROLL COMPRESSOR - A scroll compressor is provided having appropriate clearance for movement of the orbiting scroll member. Clearance is provided without requiring contact between the crankcase, which supports the orbiting scroll, and the non-orbiting scroll member. Clearance is established during the assembly process using installation tooling that establishes locations of components using a reference point. Clearance is also established using spacers.04-21-2011
20110135523SEALED COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR STANDARD SPACER PROVIDING BEARING MOUNT - A spacer is positioned between an outer periphery of a motor stator, and the inner periphery of a center shell for a sealed compressor. The spacer allows a relatively small diameter motor to be used in a relatively large diameter center shell. The spacer includes a bearing mount in a lower plate, and a plurality of axially extending fingers positioned between the stator and the center shell. The spacer also includes a stop for proper positioning of the stator within the center shell.06-09-2011

20110024707Bumper Rail System Shock Absorber - A bumper rail assembly is provided that uses bars of arch-shaped spring steel, mounted in a standing-arch configuration, as shock absorbers for the bumper rails. An end portion of the spring steel bar is shaped into a saddle so that the spring steel bar can be secured indirectly, by means of a metal plate or bracket, to the concrete base. The assembly minimizes shear forces on the anchor bolts, offers performance advantages over conventional shock absorbers such as used tires, and is economically competitive with conventional shock absorbers.02-03-2011

20090014340DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR MEASURING GLUCOSE - Systems and methods for detecting glucose in a sample using, for example, a regenerable sensor are described. The sensor may, for example, include boronic acid to detect with great sensitivity and at a low cost the glucose in the sample.01-15-2009
20100176006THREE-DIMENSIONAL METAL ION SENSOR ARRAYS ON PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS - An electronic device includes a substrate and a plurality of sensors. Each sensor is disposed in a well over the substrate and includes a working electrode, an inner filling solution disposed thereover, and an ion-selective membrane. The working electrode is in contact with the substrate and the ion-selective membrane is disposed over the inner filling solution and substantially seals the well.07-15-2010

20080264987Container for use with a vehicle seat - Containers for use with a vehicle seat of the type comprising a backrest with at least a forward surface and a rear surface, a seat cushion having at least an upper surface and a rear surface, and a slot between the backrest and the seat cushion. The container comprises a housing and an attachment member for securing the housing to the seat, having a rearward distal portion which extends rearwardly and then either upwardly or downwardly to engage a rear surface of at least one of the backrest or the seat cushion. The rearward distal portion is preferably resilient. Also disclosed is a disposable attachment member designed for attachment to a separate container, such as a pizza box. The attachment member advantageously comprises a connector portion such as a release strip covering an adhesive portion designed to be connected to the separate container.10-30-2008
