20090052878CONTROLLING AN EXPOSURE TIME FOR DIGITAL CAMERAS - Various methods, apparatuses, and systems in which a digital photography device includes a global shutter to control exposure time, a sensor array, and a flash illumination are described. The global shutter is in the optical path of light going to the sensor. The flash illumination generates a pulsed illumination. The shutter speed of the global shutter during a pre-flash illumination substantially matches the shutter speed during the flash illumination during the taking of a picture using the flash illumination based on the global shutter receiving a trigger signal from a controller.02-26-2009

20090109294User interface for a portable digital video camera - In one embodiment, a driver determines a current operating mode for a digital video camera and activates a plurality of interface buttons, where each activated interface button includes a visual indication of activation to a user. The driver receives a command to change from the current operating mode to a different operating mode and, in response, deactivates one or more of the interface buttons. Each such deactivated interface button does not include the visual indication of activation to the user. Other embodiments include computer-readable media and systems configured to implement the functionality of the driver described above. Yet other embodiments include a unique interface button configuration physically designed to enhance the ease of use of a digital video camera.04-30-2009
20090109324Charging and use scheme for a hand-held electronics device - One embodiment sets forth a method for modifying video content stored on a hand-held digital video camera (DVC). The method includes transmitting video data to a computer system to which the hand-held DVC is coupled via a data connector, receiving a request for a set of instructions related to a processing operation being performed on the computer system and involving the video data, transmitting the set of instructions to the computer system via the data connector. The method also includes drawing power from the computer system via the data connector and charging at least in part a battery associated with the hand-held DVC with the power drawn from the computer system, where the hand-held DVC remains coupled to the computer system via the data connector for the steps of transmitting, receiving, drawing and charging.04-30-2009
20090109329Data connector for an electronics device - One embodiment of the invention sets forth a hand-held electronics device for recording digital video that includes a housing, a processor disposed within the housing, and a data connector coupled to the processor such that data can be transmitted to and from the processor through the data connector. The data connector includes an arm rotationally coupled to the housing, and an adapter portion matable with a corresponding adapter of a computer system. The data connector forms a portion of a top part or a bottom part of the housing when in a retracted position. Among other things, the disclosed hand-held electronics device advantageously enables a user to easily, with one hand, hold the hand-held electronics device and slide the trigger with a thumb or other finger to release the data connector into the extended position.04-30-2009
20090185792DIGITAL VIDEO CAMCORDER WITH WIRELESS TRANSMISSION BUILT-IN - In general, a digital video player and recorder (camcorder) is described that may include a Wi-Fi module, a soft phone client application, and an antenna. An antenna connects to the Wi-Fi module to transmit and receive a compressed digital video signal wirelessly as radio frequency waves at transmitted frequencies and data rates established by the Wi-Fi standard to and from a Wi-Fi enabled router base station and then to a server of an instant messaging communication system that uses the Internet and then to another computing device capable of displaying video files. The soft phone client application resident on the digital video player and recorder has code to facilitate making phone calls over the internet by breaking audio and video data into packets, formatting the packets into compliance with the instant messaging communication system, encoding the server's IP address into the packets, and specially marking the packets that contain video data.07-23-2009
20100118159Method For Automatic Exposure Control Within A Video Capture Device - On embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for automatically computing exposure parameters for a digital video camera (DVC) system. The exposure parameters include exposure gain, analog gain, and digital gain. Each frame is analyzed with respect to an image luma value. Exposure gain and analog gain are adjusted to reduce differences between a target image luma value and measured image luma values over sequential frames. Digital gain is adjusted with respect to each frame to reduce visually abrupt changes in sequentially captured video frames.05-13-2010
