20090304057SYSTEM AND METHOD OF AN IN-BAND MODEM FOR DATA COMMUNICATIONS OVER DIGITAL WIRELESS COMMUNICATION NETWORKS - A system is provided for transmitting information through a speech codec (in-band) such as found in a wireless communication network. A modulator transforms the data into a spectrally noise-like signal based on the mapping of a shaped pulse to predetermined positions within a modulation frame, and the signal is efficiently encoded by a speech codec. A synchronization sequence provides modulation frame timing at the receiver and is detected based on analysis of a correlation peak pattern. A request/response protocol provides reliable transfer of data using message redundancy, retransmission, and/or robust modulation modes dependent on the communication channel conditions.12-10-2009
20100318351SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OBTAINING A MESSAGE TYPE IDENTIFIER THROUGH AN IN-BAND MODEM - A system and method is provided for obtaining a message type identifier through a speech codec (in-band) such as found in a wireless communication network. A first predetermined sequence with noise-like characteristics is detected and identifies a first message type. A second predetermined sequence with noise-like characteristics is detected and identifies a second message type.12-16-2010
20110142030SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SUPPORTING HIGHER-LAYER PROTOCOL MESSAGING IN AN IN-BAND MODEM - Acknowledging a source terminal data message from a destination terminal in an in-band communication system is disclosed. A first synchronization sequence followed by a low layer acknowledgement message and a second synchronization sequence followed by a high layer acknowledgement message is transmitted.06-16-2011
20110149847SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SUPPORTING HIGHER-LAYER PROTOCOL MESSAGING IN AN IN-BAND MODEM - Detecting an acknowledgment signal sent from a destination terminal at a source terminal in an in-band communication system is disclosed. A first synchronization sequence followed by a low layer acknowledgement message and a second synchronization sequence followed by a high layer acknowledgement message is detected.06-23-2011

20080219374MIMO DETECTION WITH ON-TIME SYMBOL LEVEL INTERFERENCE CANCELLATION - Techniques for receiving a MIMO transmission are described. A receiver processes received data for the MIMO transmission based on a front-end filter to obtain filtered data. The receiver further processes the filtered data based on at least one first combiner matrix to obtain detected data for a first frame. The receiver demodulates and decodes this detected data to obtain decoded data for the first frame. The receiver then processes the filtered data based on at least one second combiner matrix and the decoded data for the first frame to cancel interference due to the first frame and obtain detected data for a second frame. The receiver processes this detected data to obtain decoded data for the second frame. The front-end filter processes non on-time signal components in the received data. Each combiner matrix combines on-time signal components in the filtered data to obtain detected data for a channelization code.09-11-2008
