One embodiment provides an LCD with color filters only over most or all of the transmissive part of a pixel but only part of the reflective portion of a pixel, enabling readability in the ambient light. Embodiments eliminate the black matrix mask used typically in color filter creation. Additionally, an embodiment provides diagonal pixels to improve the resolution of the LCD in the color transmissive mode. Further, an embodiment enables the light to switch between two colors, while a third color (typically green) is always on, thereby decreasing the required frame rate of the LCD, when used in the hybrid field sequential approach. Yet another embodiment creates colors from the backlight, eliminating the need for color filters. 20110041690Method and apparatus for removing volatile contaminants from industrial plants - A method and apparatus for simultaneously removing alkali chlorides from an industrial process and purifying vaporizable contaminants such as mercury from a particulate material. Gases containing alkali chlorides are cooled to a temperature above the boiling point of the contaminants and below the boiling point of the alkali chlorides. Particulates rich in alkali chlorides are removed from the gas stream with a first dust collector. The gas stream cleaned of alkali chlorides is directed to a reaction area where particulate material containing mercury contaminants is inserted into the gas stream to vaporize the contaminants from the material and entrain the cleaned material in the gases. The gases are directed to a second dust collector to remove the entrained particulate material, after which a sorbent or chemical reagent is injected in the gases to interact with the contaminants and form a contaminant containing product that is entrained in the gases and thereafter separated from the gases.02-24-2011

A limb is formed by dividing an end of an elongated shaft member into extending prongs that are shaped into custom lengths and curvatures. Furthermore, the method of the present invention provides affixing a sole plate to the limb, reinforcement of the prongs by nesting additional prongs within the elongated shaft member, dividing the proximal end of the shaft member into circumferentially spaced-apart fingers, and dividing a midsection of the shaft member into circumferentially spaced-apart flexing vanes. The present invention also provides that the prongs may be further modified by division into toe and heel extensions or by wrapping a prong around another prong to form a sole. Methods of reducing stress concentration using bolts and stress relief holes in these limbs are also presented.05-12-2011
