The present invention also provides a method for determining the risk of subjects with a preoperative fibrinogen plasma level equal to or above the normal range to bleed postoperatively. Furthermore, the present invention provides means for predicting the necessity of blood or plasma transfusion after a subject with a preoperative fibrinogen plasma level equal to or above the normal range has been subject to a surgical procedure.
