HIGH BANDWIDTH POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM WITH HIGH EFFICIENCY AND LOW DISTORTION - A power supply system uses improved Class G amplifier architecture for high bandwidth operation with low distortion. The power supply system switches between multiple power supply rails, depending on the signal level handled by the power supply system. The lowest usable supply rail voltage is chosen to minimize power dissipation in the output driver, thus optimizing efficiency. Each supply rail has an associated driver capable of sourcing current to the amplifier output. When a supply rail is selected, its associated driver is enabled and other driver(s) not associated with the selected supply rail are disabled via separate disable control signals. The disabling of the deselected driver may be delayed until current above a predetermined threshold is sensed at the output of the enabled driver. In addition, the frequency of switching between the power rails may be limited via various means designed to limit distortion in the power supply system. | 01-27-2011

INTERFACIAL LAYER FOR HAFNIUM-BASED HIGH-K/METAL GATE TRANSISTORS - A method of forming an interfacial layer for hafnium-based high-k/metal gate transistors comprises depositing a hafnium-based high-k dielectric layer on a semiconductor substrate and then annealing the high-k dielectric layer and the semiconductor substrate in a nitric oxide atmosphere for a time duration and at a temperature sufficient to drive at least a portion of the nitric oxide through the dielectric layer to an interface between the dielectric layer and the substrate. At this interface, the nitric oxide reacts with the substrate to form a silicon oxynitride interfacial layer. | 06-04-2009

PSEUDO LOW VOLUME RETICLE (PLVR) DESIGN FOR ASIC MANUFACTURING - A Pseudo Low Volume Reticle (PLVR) which consists of multiple design layers on a single reticle. Specifically, the reticle can include two instances of each layer in order to facilitate die-to-die inspection techniques. A scribe is wrapped around each instance of the layer, such that both the frame and active area of the chip can be inspected with the die-to-die method. The chip consists of design data for a given part. The scribe, or frame, is preferably standard data across products which is used for yield and in line testing during the chip manufacturing process. Since only one chip and scribe unit is necessary to manufacture a device at each layer, it is only necessary that one chip and scribe instance yield during the reticle manufacturing process. | 02-05-2009

Using radio frequency transmit/receive switches in radio frequency communications - A metal oxide semiconductor radio frequency transmit/receive switch may enable lower costs and smaller size. The switch uses an inductor and a capacitor circuit to isolate the power amplifier from the low noise amplifier. Metal oxide semiconductor switches are utilized to switch between transmit and receive modes. | 01-29-2009

Light-sensor-placement device for color display, and displays comprising same - Light-sensor devices are disclosed for use with a color display such as a CRT, LCD, plasma display, or other type of display. The device includes an arm having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein a light sensor is situated on or near the distal end. A mover, coupled to or near the proximal end, is configured to move the arm to place the sensor selectively at a parked position and at a measurement position. The mover can be electrically energizable to cause motion of the arm. The mover can be or include a motor. Such a light-sensor device can be mounted to a display and thus become a substantially permanent part of the display and can be used with displays that are difficult or inconvenient to keep color-calibrated, or are difficult or impossible to reach for color-calibration. | 08-28-2008

COMPUTER-IMPLEMENTED PROCESS OF REPORTING INJURED WORKER INFORMATION - Predefined lists of selected variables are created and interrelated to produce incident reports. The lists are created and modified through the use of formatted computer screens or input forms, and the reports are produced through the use of formatted computer outputs or output formats. The lists include accident-related information such as industry types, occupations, safety teams, attendance codes, types of injuries, body parts affected, types of incidents, site conditions, accident causes and safety reminders. The input forms often correspond directly to the types of lists, so that there is a form through which the list of industry types is created and/or modified, and another form through which the list of occupations is created. In addition, there are input forms that allow creation and/or modification of several lists at one time, particularly when each element in one list is directly associated with one element from another list. The output formats include agency-related formats such as an OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) No. 200 report, and statistical summaries used for managerial decision making. The statistical summaries may be textual or graphical, or a combination of textual and graphical. | 07-22-2010

Community-Driven Relational Filtering of Unstructured Text - A method and apparatus for calculating a score for word selection, which may be used to preprocess sets of words prior to a dimensionality reduction process, employs information about relationships between words themselves (such as synonym relationships) or relationships between items with which the words are associated (such as products in a catalog). In some embodiments, the relationships are also community based; i.e., the relationships are established by a community of users. The relationships may be references to two or more word sets in which the word of interest is common. In one embodiment, the word sets are descriptions of products in an online catalog, the community is the group of people who view the catalog, and the relationships used for calculating the score for a particular word of interest are coreferences (e.g., viewing or purchasing) of pairs of products for which the catalog descriptions both include the particular word. | 01-13-2011
