20110060676System and method for structuring, trading, and processing differential funds - A system and method is provided for structuring, and recording and processing information and data flow necessary to effect trades; creations; and redemptions of shares of, a differential fund. A differential fund comprises an underlying index or basket of securities, commodities, or other assets, with share classes equivalent to the number of and linked to components or sectors of the underlying. The system and method allocates dividends, distributions, or capital appreciation owing each class by weighting a predetermined financial indicator of each component to each other and then applying distributions or appreciation owed to the whole fund to individual classes based on the indicator weighting. Shares trade freely at a market premium over the net-asset value or market price of the fund. Because each share is backed by the entire underlying, the net-asset value or market price of the underlying establishes a natural lower-bound in the price of a share.03-10-2011

20080288915Determining destinations of a dynamic branch - A method, a translator, and a computer-readable medium for translating compiled programming code from a first code state to a second code state are disclosed. The programming code in the first state has a plurality of basic blocks, where each basic block has a set of instructions. At least one basic block ends in a dynamic branch, the dynamic branch being a transfer to one of a set of destinations based on a calculation of a destination address. The plurality of basic blocks in the first state of the programming code are identified, as are links between the identified basic blocks. A control flow graph (CFG) of the programming code is then constructed based on the identified basic blocks and identified links, where the CFG is in a preliminary form. At least one basic block ending in a dynamic branch is identified, and all identified basic blocks that lead to the dynamic branch are explored, based on the CFG, as far back as is necessary to fully determine a set of destination addresses for the dynamic branch. The set of destination addresses defines the set of destinations from the dynamic branch. Such set of destinations is examined to identify a branch table, and the CFG is updated to reflect the set of destinations and the identified branch table. The programming code is then translated from the first state to the second state based at least in part on the updated CFG.11-20-2008

20090157929DATA ARBITRATION ON A BUS TO DETERMINE AN EXTREME VALUE - A system includes a master device and a plurality of slave devices. The master device initiates a bus transaction having an arbitration data field for processing by a subset of the slave devices. Each slave device of the subset arbitrates a corresponding data value for the arbitration data field via the multiple-access bus such that an extreme data value of the data values of the slave devices of the subset is transmitted via the multiple-access bus for the arbitration data field. The slave device can arbitrate its data value by providing the data value for serial transmission via a data line of the multiple-access bus and monitoring the data line. In response to determining that a bit value of the data value being provided does not match the state of the data line, the slave device terminates provision of the data value, thereby ceasing arbitration of its data value.06-18-2009

20110210884Apparatus and method to generate and detect virtual targets - An apparatus and method to generate and detect virtual targets. Position information for one or more virtual targets is calculated onboard a vehicle from real position information obtained from GPS satellites or other external or internal sources. This virtual position information is coded, mixed with a carrier frequency, amplified, and radiated to a nearby test vehicle, such as an aircraft. The amplitude of the radiated signal is adjusted such that the signal containing the virtual position information is received by the test aircraft only. The radiated signal thus adjusted is below the detection threshold of any aircraft further away. The test aircraft decodes the signal and interprets the decoded virtual position information as real aircraft in its vicinity. The coded signals may be structured to comply with the requirements of the FAA's ADS-B system. The apparatus may be mounted on the test aircraft itself, or on a nearby aircraft.09-01-2011

20110282650AUTOMATIC NORMALIZATION OF SPOKEN SYLLABLE DURATION - A very common problem is when people speak a language other than the language which they are accustomed, syllables can be spoken for longer or shorter than the listener would regard as appropriate. An example of this can be observed when people who have a heavy Japanese accent speak English. Since Japanese words end with vowels, there is a tendency for native Japanese to add a vowel sound to the end of English words that should end with a consonant. Illustratively, native Japanese speakers often pronounce “orange” as “orenji.” An aspect provides an automatic speech-correcting process that would not necessarily need to know that fruit is being discussed; the system would only need to know that the speaker is accustomed to Japanese, that the listener is accustomed to English, that “orenji” is not a word in English, and that “orenji” is a typical Japanese mispronunciation of the English word “orange.”11-17-2011
