Patent application numberDescriptionPublished
20090076901GENERATING ADVERTISEMENTS USING USER ASSETS - The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for generating ads using user assets. In some implementations, a method includes receiving one or more assets associated with advertising in at least one printed publication. One or more ads compatible with ad slots in the at least one publication are automatically generated based, at least in part, on the received assets.03-19-2009
20100218142Associating a Message with an Item - Associating a message with an item includes detecting a characteristic of a first item located at a first node level of a hierarchy of items. The method includes associating a first message with the first item based on the characteristic, the first message preconfigured for presentation to a user regarding the characteristic. The method includes registering the first message, based on the association with the first item, to be presented at a second node level in the hierarchy in a user interface, the first node level descending from the second node level in the hierarchy.08-26-2010

Patent application numberDescriptionPublished
20080300722AMPHIBIOUS ROBOTIC DEVICE - A robotic device for navigating in at least a liquid medium, includes a legged propulsion system having a series of legs external of a body of the robotic device, each of the legs being independently driven and mounted to the body for pivotal movement about a respective transverse axis. The legs oscillating relative to the body about the respective transverse axis such that interaction between the legs and the liquid medium produces propulsive forces that displace the robotic device within the liquid medium. A control system is operatively connected to the legged propulsion system for autonomous control and operation of the robotic device based on information received from at least one sensor providing data about an environment of the device.12-04-2008

Patent application numberDescriptionPublished
20090117269ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE COMPOSITE MATERIAL - An electrically conductive composite material includes metallic nanostrands distributed throughout a matrix constructed of a polymer, ceramic, or elastomer. The nanostrands may have an average diameter under four microns and an average aspect ratio over ten-to-one. Larger fibers may also be included to enhance electrical conductivity or other properties. The nanostrands and/or fibers may be magnetically oriented to enhance electrical conductivity along one direction. A pressure sensor may be formed by utilizing an elastomer for the matrix. Electrical conductivity through the composite material varies in proportion to deflection of the elastomer. A composite material may be applied to a surface as an electrically conductive paint. Composite materials may be made by cutting a blank of the nanostrands to the desired shape, inserting the matrix, and curing the matrix. Alternatively, a suspension agent may first be used to dispose powdered nanostrands in the desired shape.05-07-2009
