A sample processing unit typically includes a container configured to contain a sample comprising magnetically responsive particles, and one or more magnets that are in substantially fixed positions relative to the container. A sample processing unit also generally includes a conveyance mechanism configured to convey the container to and from a position that is within magnetic communication with the magnet, e.g., such that magnetically responsive particles with captured analytes can be retained within the container when other materials are added to and/or removed from the container. Further, a sample processing unit also typically includes a rotational mechanism that is configured to rotate the container, e.g., to effect mixing of sample materials disposed within the container. Related carrier mechanisms, sample processing stations, systems, and methods are also provided.03-25-2010
20100128558MIXING CARTRIDGES, MIXING STATIONS, AND RELATED KITS, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS - Cartridges useful for mixing materials, such as fluidic materials are provided. A cartridge typically includes a body structure having surfaces that define a cavity with upper and lower portions. A rotatable member generally extends along a horizontal axis in the upper portion of the cavity. One or more protrusions typically extend outward from the rotatable member and into the lower portion of the cavity, and are configured to mix the material when the material is disposed in the cavity. Related mixing stations, systems, kits, and methods are also provided.05-27-2010

20090275926Medical suction device - A medical device for fragmenting objects and aspirating remaining debris enables a physician or other medical personnel quickly and easily remove objects, such as kidney stones, from a patient. The medical device can include a dual-lumen elongated member and a handle coupled to the elongated member. A first one of the lumens provides a suction passageway, and a second one of the lumens receives a laser fiber for delivering laser energy to an object, such as a kidney stone, within the patient. The handle can include a positioning mechanism to enable the physician by manual manipulation to move and hold in place the laser fiber longitudinally within the second lumen.11-05-2009

20080270789METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MESSAGING SECURITY - An e-mail firewall applies policies to e-mail messages transmitted between a first site and a plurality of second sites. The e-mail firewall includes a plurality of mail transfer relay modules for transferring e-mail messages between the first site and one of the second sites. Policy managers are used to enforce and administer selectable policies. The policies are used to determine security procedures for the transmission and reception of e-mail messages. The e-mail firewall employs signature verification processes to verify signatures in received encrypted e-mail messages. The e-mail firewall is further adapted to employ external servers for verifying signatures. External servers are also used to retrieve data that is employed to encrypt and decrypt e-mail messages received and transmitted by the e-mail firewall, respectively.10-30-2008
20110144981CONTINUOUS PITCH-CORRECTED VOCAL CAPTURE DEVICE COOPERATIVE WITH CONTENT SERVER FOR BACKING TRACK MIX - Techniques have been developed to facilitate (1) the capture and pitch correction of vocal performances on handheld or other portable computing devices and (2) the mixing of such pitch-corrected vocal performances with backing tracks for audible rendering on targets that include such portable computing devices and as well as desktops, workstations, gaming stations, even telephony targets. Implementations of the described techniques employ signal processing techniques and allocations of system functionality that are suitable given the generally limited capabilities of such handheld or portable computing devices and that facilitate efficient encoding and communication of the pitch-corrected vocal performances (or precursors or derivatives thereof) via wireless and/or wired bandwidth-limited networks for rendering on portable computing devices or other targets.06-16-2011
20110144982CONTINUOUS SCORE-CODED PITCH CORRECTION - Vocal musical performances may be captured and continuously pitch-corrected at a mobile device for mixing and rendering with backing tracks in ways that create compelling user experiences. In some cases, the vocal performances of individual users are captured in the context of a karaoke-style presentation of lyrics in correspondence with audible renderings of a backing track. Such performances can be pitch-corrected in real-time at the mobile device in accord with pitch correction settings. In some cases, such pitch correction settings code a particular key or scale for the vocal performance or for portions thereof. In some cases, pitch correction settings include a score-coded melody sequence of note targets supplied with, or for association with, the lyrics and/or backing track. In some cases, pitch correction settings are dynamically variable based on gestures captured at a user interface.06-16-2011
20110144983WORLD STAGE FOR PITCH-CORRECTED VOCAL PERFORMANCES - Techniques have been developed to facilitate the capture performances on handheld or other portable computing devices and, in some cases, the pitch-correction and mixing of such vocal performances with backing tracks for audible rendering on such devices. Captivating visual animations and/or facilities for listener comment and ranking are provided in association with an audible rendering of a performance, e.g., a vocal performance captured and pitch-corrected at another similarly configured mobile device and mixed with backing instrumentals and/or vocals. Geocoding of captured vocal performances and/or listener feedback may facilitate animations or display artifacts in ways that are suggestive of a performance or endorsement emanating from a particular geographic locale on a user manipulable globe. In this way, implementations of the described functionality can transform otherwise mundane mobile devices into social instruments that foster a unique sense of global connectivity and community.06-16-2011

The method also includes receiving selection of a property in the portfolio for offering one or more percentage ownerships thereof. An offering of one or more percentage ownerships of the respective property is initiated in response to the selection, initiating an offering including automatically notifying one or more other entities of the offering. And commitments are received from one or more other entities regarding respective percentage ownerships of the property to thereby facilitate the entity and one or more other entities concluding a percentage-ownership transaction regarding the property. As provided, the offering is retractable by the entity until the other entities commit to purchase, in the aggregate, a minimum percentage ownership of the respective property.08-28-2008
