20120067728COLLOIDAL SPHERE TEMPLATES AND SPHERE-TEMPLATED POROUS MATERIALS - A method of making colloidal sphere templates and the sphere-templated porous materials made from the templates. The templated porous materials or thin films comprise micron and submicron-scaled spheres in ordered, disordered, or partially ordered arrays. The invention is useful in the synthesis of submicron porous, metallic tin-based and other high capacity anode materials with controlled pore structures for application in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. The expected benefits of the resulting nanostructured metal films include a large increase in lithium storage capacity, rate capability, and improved stability with electrochemical cycling.03-22-2012

20100055144High aspect ratio template and method for producing same - Millimeter to nano-scale structures manufactured using a multi-component polymer fiber matrix are disclosed. The use of dissimilar polymers allows the selective dissolution of the polymers at various stages of the manufacturing process. In one application, biocompatible matrixes may be formed with long pore length and small pore size. The manufacturing process begins with a first polymer fiber arranged in a matrix formed by a second polymer fiber. End caps may be attached to provide structural support and the polymer fiber matrix selectively dissolved away leaving only the long polymer fibers. These may be exposed to another product, such as a biocompatible gel to form a biocompatible matrix. The polymer fibers may then be selectively dissolved leaving only a biocompatible gel scaffold with the pores formed by the dissolved polymer fibers.03-04-2010

20090202605HIGH ASPECT RATIO TEMPLATE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME FOR CENTRAL AND PERIPHERAL NERVE REPAIR - Millimeter to nano-scale structures manufactured using a multi-component polymer fiber matrix are disclosed. The polymer fibers may then be selectively dissolved leaving only a biocompatible gel scaffold with the pores formed by the dissolved polymer fibers. The scaffolds may be used in, among other applications, the repair of central and peripheral nerves. Scaffolds for the repair of peripheral nerves may include a reservoir for the sustained release of nerve growth factor. The scaffolds may also include a multifunctional polyelectrolyte layer for the sustained release of nerve growth factor and enhance biocompatibility.08-13-2009

20120019522ENHANCED SITUATIONAL AWARENESS AND TARGETING (eSAT) SYSTEM - eSAT pushes 3D scene awareness and targeting to forward positioned mobile operators and their handheld devices in environments such as found in military theaters of operation, border control and enforcement, police operations, search & rescue and large commercial industrial operations. A host computer hosts a 3D model of a scene and dynamically captures and transmits a windowed portion of the visual representation of that 3D model over a wireless network to the mobile operators' handheld devices. The windowed portion of the visual representation is streamed directly to the operators' handheld device displays. The mobile operators may interact with and control the 3D model via the wireless network. The host computer may synthesize the visual representation of the 3D model with live feeds from one or more of the handheld devices or other assets to improve situational awareness. Either the mobile operators or host operator can make point selections on the visual representation to extract geo-coordinates from the 3D model as a set of target coordinates.01-26-2012
