Nanoparticles for Imaging Atherosclerotic Plaque - Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease of the arterial walls and represents a significant health problem in developed nations. Described is a targeted Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) contrast agent for in vivo imaging of early stage atherosclerosis. Early plaque development is characterized by the influx of macrophages, which express a class of surface receptors known collectively as the scavenger receptors (SR). The macrophage scavenger receptor class A (SRA) is highly expressed during early atherosclerosis. The macrophage SRA therefore presents itself as an ideal target for labeling of lesion formation. By coupling a known ligand for the scavenger receptor, dextran sulfate, to a MRI contrast agent, early plaque formation can be detected in vivo. Targeted MR contrast agents offer a unique opportunity to visualize early plaque development in vivo with high sensitivity and resolution, allowing or early diagnosis and treatment of atherosclerosis. | 08-28-2008

FLOW CONTROLLER - A movable flow controller is interposed in a fluid flow path. The flow controller includes an elongate groove having a first end and a second end. The groove preferably is sized and shaped so that a cross-sectional area of the groove changes along its length from the first end to the second end, and terminates in a hole through the flow controller. In operation, a portion of the groove is aligned with an inlet of the flow path on a first side of the controller, and the hole is in communication with an outlet of the flow path on a second side of the controller. Moving the flow controller relative to the flow path input varies the minimum cross-sectional area of the flow path through the controller and thus selectively limits fluid flow through the controller. | 04-14-2011

DETECTING TARGETS IN ROADWAY INTERSECTIONS - The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for detecting targets in roadway intersections. Transmit antennas transmit signals into a roadway intersection. Receive antennas receive corresponding signal reflections off objects in the roadway. The reflections correspond to two dimensional image data for the roadway intersection. The reflections are conditioned for compatibility with a processor. The processor processes the condition reflections into a two dimensional image of targets in the roadway intersection. | 06-10-2010
DETECTING ROADWAY TARGETS ACROSS BEAMS - The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for detecting targets across beams at roadway intersections. Embodiments of the invention include tracking a target across a plurality of beams of a multiple beam radar system in a roadway intersection and updating track files for targets within a roadway intersection. Returns from a plurality of radar beams monitoring a roadway intersection are divided into range bins. Identified energy in the range bins is used to compute the position of targets within a roadway intersection. When the position of a target is computed, it is determined if the position is a new position for an existing target or if the position is the position of a new target. | 06-17-2010

PART DRAINING HANGER - A part hanger is provided that engages a part being treated in a manner that orients the part so that treatment liquid tends to drain from the part. To this end, a part hanger is provided that is configured to suspend a part for treatment with a liquid. The part hanger includes one or more elongate members formed into a substantially U-shape having first and second side legs connected by a bottom leg. The first leg is configured to support a portion of the part from below at a first leg distal end. A hanger extension is connected at one end to a second leg distal end. The hanger extension is disposed substantially parallel to the bottom leg and terminates at a hanger extension distal end in a mounting feature. The hanger extension terminates prior to contacting the first leg distal end such that the first leg distal end and the mounting feature define a part clearance gap through which at least a portion of the part may extend into the U-shape. | 08-25-2011
