20120062123Managing Light System Energy Use - A first lighting assembly receives a lighting profile that instructs the first lighting assembly to operate according to the lighting profile over a first period of time. The received lighting profile is implemented, including causing a light of the first lighting assembly to illuminate at a first intensity. An input acquired in proximity to the first lighting assembly and indicating activity in a region proximate the first lighting assembly is received. The received lighting profile is then deviated from, in response to the received input, by increasing the intensity of the light to illuminate at a second intensity for a predetermined period of time. A message is transmitted for receipt by the control center, the message including an indication of the increased light intensity and an identifier associated with the first lighting assembly.03-15-2012

20090099461SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR A NON-SUPINE EXTREMITY BLOOD PRESSURE RATIO EXAMINATION - The present invention provides methods that facilitate the determination of a hydrostatic correction factor usable in an EBPR examination of a patient in a non-supine position. In one embodiment, a method for facilitating the determination of a hydrostatic correction factor for an extremity blood pressure ratio examination of a patient in a non-supine position includes establishing the vertical distance between first and second blood pressure measuring devices positionable on first and second extremities of the patient based on an empirically derived formula and determining a hydrostatic correction factor for the extremity blood pressure ratio examination based on the vertical distance. In this regard, the formula for the vertical distance may be based on a percentage of the height of the patient.04-16-2009
20090099463SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR A NON-SUPINE EXTREMITY BLOOD PRESSURE RATIO EXAMINATION - The present invention provides apparatuses and methods that facilitate the determination of a hydrostatic correction factor usable in an EBPR examination of a patient in a non-supine position. In one embodiment, a first blood pressure measuring device may be positionable on a first extremity of the patient, and a second blood pressure measuring device may be positionable on a second extremity of the patient, with one of the blood pressure measuring devices being located above the other one. The apparatus includes a locating mechanism that fixes a position of at least one of the first and second blood pressure measuring devices relative to its respective patient extremity. The apparatus also includes an instrumentality that provides information about a vertical distance between the first and second blood pressure measuring devices. The vertical distance is usable in determining the hydrostatic correction factor.04-16-2009
20090099465SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR A NON-SUPINE EXTREMITY BLOOD PRESSURE RATIO EXAMINATION - The present invention provides apparatuses and methods that facilitate the determination of a hydrostatic correction factor usable in an EBPR examination of a patient in a non-supine position. In one embodiment, a first blood pressure measuring device may be positionable on a first extremity of the patient, and a second blood pressure measuring device may be positionable on a second extremity of the patient, with one of the blood pressure measuring devices being located above the other one. The apparatus includes a computational device and an input element coupled to the computational device, wherein information relating to a vertical distance between the first and second blood pressure measuring devices is receivable by the input element. The computational device is operable to calculate at least one of a hydrostatic correction factor, a corrected extremity blood pressure, and an extremity blood pressure ratio using the information relating to the vertical distance.04-16-2009

20090298130LADDER ASSEMBLY AND SYSTEM FOR GENERATING DIVERSITY - The present invention provides novel methods of generating a nucleic acid molecule. In certain embodiments, a double stranded nucleic acid chunk is generated from a ladder complex comprising partially complementary oligonucleotides, which chunk is combined with a nucleic acid acceptor molecule. In certain embodiments, the assembled chunk/nucleic acid acceptor molecule complex may be propagated in vivo or in vitro. The present invention also provides improved systems for generating a plurality of nucleic acid molecules that differ at one or more nucleotide positions. In certain embodiments, the plurality of nucleic acid molecules encodes a polypeptide or portion of a polypeptide.12-03-2009
20090325264Engineered Delta-15-Fatty Acid Desaturases - The present invention provides engineered fatty acid desaturase molecules preferring Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) over Linoleic Acid (LA) as a substrate. The invention further discloses compositions, polynucleotide constructs, transformed host cells, transgenic plants and seeds comprising the desaturase molecule, and methods for preparing and using the same. In particular, the disclosed engineered desaturase molecules are capable of altering the omega-3 fatty acid profiles in plants and plant parts.12-31-2009

20100257944TORQUE SENSOR ADJUSTABLE PLATFORM APPARATUS AND METHOD - A torque sensor adjustable platform apparatus is configured to include a base with a centering block between two linear grooves. Two sliders slide along the linear grooves under the control of a lead screw. Turning the lead screw causes the sliders to either approach each other or to separate. A PCB tray rides on top of the sliders. The tops of the sliders have retaining grooves keyed to accept retaining rails on the bottom of the PCB tray. The retaining grooves and retaining rails are angled so that the PCB tray moves further from the base as the sliders approach one another. A receiving module fixed into the PCB tray receives a signal from a shaft mounted torque sensor. The lead screw can be manipulated to optimizing the received signal while keeping the receiving module clear of the shaft.10-14-2010
