20090099987DECOMPOSED OPTIMAL BAYESIAN STACKELBERG SOLVER - Techniques are described for Stackelberg games, in which one agent (the leader) must commit to a strategy that can be observed by other agents (the followers or adversaries) before they choose their own strategies, in which the leader is uncertain about the types of adversaries it may face. Such games are important in security domains, where, for example, a security agent (leader) must commit to a strategy of patrolling certain areas, and robbers (followers) have a chance to observe this strategy over time before choosing their own strategies of where to attack. An efficient exact algorithm is described for finding the optimal strategy for the leader to commit to in these games. This algorithm, Decomposed Optimal Bayesian Stackelberg Solver or “DOBSS,” is based on a novel and compact mixed-integer linear programming formulation. The algorithm can be implemented in a method, software, and/or system including computer or processor functionality.04-16-2009
20090119239Agent security via approximate solvers - Efficient heuristic methods are described for approximating the optimal leader strategy for security domains where threats come from unknown adversaries. These problems can be modeled as Bayes-Stackelberg games. An embodiment of the heuristic method can include defining a patrolling or security domain problem as a mixed-integer quadratic program. The mixed-integer quadratic program can be converted to a mixed-integer linear program. For a single follower (e.g., robber or terrorist) scenario, the mixed-integer linear program can be solved, subject to appropriate constraints. For embodiments applicable to multiple follower situations, the relevant mixed-integer quadratic program and related mixed-integer linear program can be decomposed, e.g., by changing the response function for the follower from a pure strategy to a weighted combination over various pure follower strategies where the weights are probabilities of occurrence of each of the follower types.05-07-2009

20110282801RISK-SENSITIVE INVESTMENT STRATEGIES UNDER PARTIALLY OBSERVABLE MARKET CONDITIONS - System, method and computer program product for modelling Risk-Sensitive Partially-Observable Markov Decision Processes (POMDPs), e.g., in a high-risk domain such as financial planning and solving such equations exactly, such that agents maximize the expected utility of their actions. The system and method employs an exact algorithm for solving Risk-Sensitive POMDPs, for piecewise linear utility functions, by representing underlying value functions with sets of piecewise bilinear functions—computed using functional value iteration—and pruning the dominated bilinear functions using efficient linear programming approximations of underlying non-convex bilinear programs. Considering piecewise linear approximations of utility functions, (i) there is defined the Risk-Sensitive POMDP model that incorporates value functions V(b,w) where argument “b” is a belief state and argument “w” is a continuous wealth dimension; (ii) derive the fundamental properties of the underlying value functions and provide a functional value iteration technique to compute them; and (iii) determine the dominated value functions, to speed up the algorithm.11-17-2011

In other aspects, antimicrobial compositions are used to topically sanitize wounds, skin areas and/or other surfaces. An antimicrobial composition provided by the invention includes EDTA, a paraben, and optionally one or both of citrate and a photo-oxidant.01-14-2010
20100240750CATHETER LOCK SOLUTION COMPRISING CITRATE AND A PARABEN - This invention relates to compositions, methods, devices and kits relating to the infusion of a catheter lock solution into an indwelling catheter. Inventive compositions, methods, devices and kits aid in diminishing the effects of microbial infection in catheters and occlusion of the catheters. A lock solution provided by the invention includes citrate and a paraben. The solution preferably has a density suitable for retention of the solution in a catheter during the lock period. Another lock solution provided by the invention includes citrate, a paraben and a photo-oxidant, such as, for example, methylene blue.09-23-2010

20100155638ELECTROMAGNETIC VALVE, AS WELL AS A METHOD FOR PRODUCING AN ELECTROMAGNETIC VALVE - An electromagnetic valve includes a housing, a coil wound on a coil support, a back iron, a yoke, a mobile armature, and a core. The core is disposed together with the armature radially inside the coil support. The armature is configured to connect, at least indirectly, with a closing member that controls a movement of a valve seat moveable between inlet channel and an outlet channel. A bearing bushing formed of injection molded plastic material is disposed radially inside the coil support and axially against the yoke, wherein the armature and the core are disposed radially inside the bearing bushing.06-24-2010
20100163007VIBRATION- AND PULSATION-ATTENUATED ELECTROPNEUMATIC CONVERTER - An electropneumatic converter for connection with an exhaust recirculation valve in a motor vehicle. The electropneumatic converter includes a vacuum port and an atmospheric pressure port configured to connect with a valve chamber using a valve device, wherein a mixed pressure is formed in the valve chamber and supplied to a mixed pressure port. An armature is affixed to a valve body of the valve device movable in an axial direction, the valve body being connected to a suspension device, wherein the armature is displaceable in the axial direction using a solenoid. The electropneumatic converter also includes a damping element configured to dampen the axial movement of the armature and the valve device affixed thereto. The damping element includes at least one of an elastomer or a foamed material.07-01-2010
20110037006SOLENOID VALVE - A solenoid valve with an electromagnetic circuit includes a return plate, a yoke, a coil wound onto a coil carrier. The coil carrier includes an internal thread and comprises a dimensionally and temperature-stable material. A core includes an outer thread. The core is disposed in the coil carrier via a direct interlocking connection. The outer thread of the core is disposed within the internal thread of the coil carrier and is configured to provide adjustment for the core. An armature is configured to be movable and to act at least indirectly on a valve-closing element. The armature is supported in the coil carrier by a supporting device.02-17-2011
