20100060081System and Method for Providing Power to Portable Electronic Devices - A power supply for an electronic device comprises a power module, an AC module, and a DC module. The power supply operates in first and second configurations. In the first configuration, the power module generates a DC output signal based on an AC power signal transmitted from the AC module. In the second configuration, the power module generates the DC output signal based on a DC power signal from the DC module.03-11-2010

20090200983Self-powering on-board power generation - An electric power generator for use in recharging a storage cell is provided. The electric power generator comprises an energy captor coupled with a shipping container, wherein the energy captor is configured to capture energy from a motion of the shipping container. An energy converter is coupled with the energy captor, wherein the energy converter is configured to generate electric power from the captured energy. The electric power generator further comprises a power projector configured to send the electric power to a storage cell.08-13-2009
20100149030POSITION DETERMINATION SYSTEM AND METHOD - An improved position determination system and method are described. The method includes determining that a failure to generate an acceptable GNSS position fix has occurred. In response to determining that the failure to generate an acceptable GNSS position fix has occurred, terrestrial positioning information is accessed which is derived from at least one broadcast signal. A second position fix based upon the terrestrial positioning information is generated.06-17-2010

20090304035LASER TRANSMITTER AND METHOD - A laser transmitter projects a beam of laser light outward while raising and lowering the beam. The beam may define a conical surface of varying inclination. The transmitter includes a laser source that directs a beam generally vertically, and a beam diverting element. The beam diverting element is positioned in the path of the beam, intercepting the beam and redirecting it. The beam emerges from the transmitter as a non-vertical beam that is raised and lowered. The diverting element may include a pair of mirrors configured as a pentaprism, with one of the mirrors pivotable. Alternatively, the diverting element may include a plurality of micro mirrors. Also, the diverting element may include a conical reflector and an annular lens which is cyclically raised and lowered. The beam may be raised and lowered cyclically according to a predetermined schedule, or it may be raised and lowered non-cyclically.12-10-2009

20110068164Method and Apparatus for Barcode and Position Detection - Method and apparatus for detecting barcode data of at least one item of interest. In one embodiment, a method includes detecting a barcode target, by an imaging device, associated with an item located at a position of interest. The method further includes decoding the barcode target to extract data associated with the item, determining position data for the position of interest and displaying the data associated with the item and the position data for a user.03-24-2011

20090111310Quick-Release Connector - A connector includes a locking mechanism that locks the connector in a socket but allows removal of the connector without a manual operation that relies on depressing the locking mechanism. The connector is released from the socket when a sufficient pulling force is applied to the connector. The connector includes a spring-loaded detent that flexes during the insertion process. The detent snaps into a locking position. The detent can be released from the socket when sufficient tension is applied on the connector such that inadvertent tension will not result in breaking the connector.04-30-2009

20080232649Method and system for data reception with decreased bit error rate - A method and system is provided for improving bit error rate (BER) performance in delay spread fading conditions, such as the fading associated with simulcast systems. BER is improved through novel symbol synchronization that comprises oversampling an input signal and filtering the samples to determine a composite symbol sample point that converges toward the center of the signal's effective eye pattern. The composite symbol sample point may be an average of previous composite symbol sample points and an instantaneous sample point determined based on samples from a synchronization field of the signal. The updated composite symbol sample point may be utilized for future sampling of the incoming signal.09-25-2008
