20110136030 | HIGH TEMPERATURE PEM FUEL CELL WITH THERMAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - A high temperature proton exchange medium (PEM) fuel stack system includes features for enhancing the thermal management of the fuel cell. The fuel cell can include a plurality of membrane-electrode-assemblies (MEA) separated by bipolar plates. The upper and lower edges of the bipolar plates are configured such that a plurality of fins is formed therein. Air can be passed along the fins in the upper edges of the plates and along the fins in the lower edges in opposite directions. A plurality of channels is formed on one or both surfaces of the bipolar plates. The channels extend along a serpentine path. Except for the end plates, hydrogen is supplied to the channels on one side of each plate and air is supplied to the channels on the channels on the opposite side of each plate. Such features keep the fuel cell within acceptable temperature limits during operation. | 06-09-2011 |
20130034789 | BIPOLAR PLATE ASSEMBLY FOR USE IN A FUEL CELL - A bipolar plate assembly includes a first material and a second material. The second material has an in-plane thermal conductivity greater than the first material. The second material has a width and a thickness. A ratio of the width to the thickness of the second material is between 50 and 400. | 02-07-2013 |
20130034790 | FUEL CELL STACK HAVING A STRUCTURAL HEAT EXCHANGER - Disclosed are fuel cell stacks incorporating heat exchangers capable of also acting as members to compress the fuel cell stack. Heat exchange through conduction is enabled by placing the heat exchanger into contact with the edges of the bipolar plates. A compressive force within the fuel cell stack is achieved by placing the heat exchanger in tension between the endplates at the opposite ends of the fuel cell stack. | 02-07-2013 |
20130034797 | BIPOLAR PLATE ASSEMBLY HAVING AN ENCAPSULATED EDGE - A bipolar plate assembly includes at least one bipolar plate and an insert member in engagement with the at least one bipolar plate. The insert member has an encapsulant encapsulating at least a portion thereof. | 02-07-2013 |
20130034799 | BIPOLAR PLATE ASSEMBLY HAVING A RECESS AND AN INSERT MEMBER FOR PLACEMENT IN THE RECESS - A bipolar plate assembly includes a first bipolar plate and a second bipolar plate. The second bipolar plate has a recess. An insert member is disposed between the first and second bipolar plates and within the recess of the second bipolar plate. | 02-07-2013 |
20130034800 | BIPOLAR PLATE ASSEMBLY HAVING AN INSERT MEMBER - A bipolar plate assembly includes at least one bipolar plate and at least one insert member configured for face-to-face engagement with the at least one bipolar plate. The at least one insert member has a preformed cutout. | 02-07-2013 |
20130034801 | BIPOLAR PLATE ASSEMBLY HAVING AN ADJUSTMENT MEMBER - A bipolar plate assembly includes a first bipolar plate and a second bipolar plate having a recess therein. An insert member is disposed between and in engagement with the first and second bipolar plates and located in the recess in the second bipolar plate. An adjustment member adjusts the engagement between the insert member and at least one of the first and second bipolar plates. | 02-07-2013 |
20130171545 | FUEL CELL HAVING MINIMUM INCIDENCE OF LEAKS - The disclosure relates to an electrochemical assembly and a method of making an electrochemical assembly. | 07-04-2013 |
