20090326581EXPANDABLE SPACING MEANS FOR INSERTION BETWEEN SPINOUS PROCESSES OF ADJACENT VERTEBRAE - A device for insertion into a space between adjacent processes of vertebrae comprising a flexible enclosure which can be placed in a collapsed form prior to insertion between adjacent processes of vertebrae and subsequently placed in an expanded form by injection of a settable resin under pressure, wherein surfaces of the device facing the adjacent processes of vertebrae are closer together in said collapsed form and further apart in said expanded form.12-31-2009
20100174373EXPANDABLE SPINAL PROSTHESIS - A device is disclosed for insertion in the human or animal body in order to increase the spacing between adjacent spinous processes of the spinal column. The device comprises a plurality of shaped members which are pivotally joined to each other and arranged around a central screwed rod which is supported by a collar at one end and a threaded collar at the opposite end said collar and collar being located within the pivoting axis of the adjacent members forming each end of the device. Following insertion in the body and positioning between adjacent spinous processes the device may be deployed by rotation of the central screwed rod in order to achieve the desired separation of adjacent spinous processes while at the same time providing a secure location of the device in the deployed condition.07-08-2010

20110006480Card feed mechanism for card handling device - The present invention provides an apparatus and method for moving playing cards from a first group of cards into plural hands of cards, wherein each of the hands contains a random arrangement of cards. The apparatus comprises a card receiver for receiving the first group of cards, a single stack of card-receiving compartments generally adjacent to the card receiver, the stack generally vertically movable, an elevator for moving the stack, a card-moving mechanism between the card receiver and the stack, and a microprocessor that controls the card-moving mechanism and the elevator so that an individual card is moved into an identified compartment. The number of compartments receiving cards and the number of cards moved to each compartment may be selected. An apparatus for feeding cards, comprising a surface for supporting a stack of cards, a feed roller with a frictional outer surface, a drive mechanism for causing rotation of the feed roller, a pair of speed-up rollers to advance the cards out of the feed roller, and a clutch mechanism for disengaging the feed roller from the drive mechanism as the card comes into contact with the speed up rollers.01-13-2011
