EXTENDING SERVER-BASED DESKTOP VIRTUAL MACHINE ARCHITECTURE TO CLIENT MACHINES - A server-based desktop-virtual machines architecture may be extended to a client machine. In one embodiment, a user desktop is remotely accessed from a client system. The remote desktop is generated by a first virtual machine running on a server system, which may comprise one or more server computers. During execution of the first virtual machine, writes to a corresponding virtual disk are directed to a delta disk file or redo log. A copy of the virtual disk is created on the client system. When a user decides to “check out” his or her desktop, the first virtual machine is terminated (if it is running) and a copy of the delta disk is created on the client system. Once the delta disk is present on the client system, a second virtual machine can be started on the client system using the virtual disk and delta disk to provide local access to the user's desktop at the client system. This allows the user to then access his or her desktop without being connected to a network. | 08-27-2009
LOOSE SYNCHRONIZATION OF VIRTUAL DISKS - Computer implemented methods, computer program products and computer systems synchronize copies of a virtual disk. A record of blocks that are modified during an access session of a copy of the virtual disk is maintained. For each partition of the virtual disk, a file system level indication of currently relevant blocks is obtained. Only those blocks that were modified during the access session and are currently relevant are copied to at least one additional copy of the virtual disk. | 09-24-2009
Unified Secure Virtual Machine Player and Remote Desktop Client - A virtual machine (VM) is accessed by receiving user log-in information, the log-in information identifying a user and a corresponding VM, the VM having a local copy and a remote copy. A selected copy of the VM is identified based on at least one of a policy and a user selection, the selected copy being one of the local copy and the remote copy of the VM. A desktop generated by the selected copy of the VM is presented to the user in a common application graphical user interface, the common application graphical user interface being used regardless as to whether the selected copy of the VM is the local copy or the remote copy. | 03-18-2010
Independent Access to Virtual Machine Desktop Content - Methods, systems, and techniques for facilitating access to content stored remotely, for example, as part of a virtual machine infrastructure or elsewhere in a networked environment, using a uniform mechanism are provided. Example embodiments provide an Enhanced Virtual Desktop Management Server/System with a Content Abstraction Layer which enables users to access their data stored as part of a virtual machine environment, or replicated otherwise on a network, using a generic API. The API can be incorporated into a web browser or other third party interface to provide access to the users' data without needing to remote a bitmap representation of a virtual desktop display. Accordingly, users can access their data, applications, and settings regardless of the type of access device and regardless of whether the corresponding virtual desktop is running in the data center, provisioned in the datacenter but running on a client device, or not running at all. | 07-28-2011
Accessing Virtual Disk Content of a Virtual Machine Using a Control Virtual Machine - Methods, systems, and techniques for facilitating access to content stored remotely, for example, as part of a virtual machine infrastructure or elsewhere in a networked environment, using a uniform mechanism are provided. | 20110185355 | Accessing Virtual Disk Content of a Virtual Machine Without Running a Virtual Desktop - Methods, systems, and techniques for facilitating access to content stored remotely, for example, as part of a virtual machine infrastructure or elsewhere in a networked environment, using a uniform mechanism are provided. Example embodiments provide an Enhanced Virtual Desktop Management Server/System with a Content Abstraction Layer which enables users to access their data stored as part of a virtual machine environment, or replicated otherwise on a network, using a generic API. | 20120278726 | UNIFIED SECURE VIRTUAL MACHINE PLAYER AND REMOTE DESKTOP CLIENT - A virtual machine (VM) is accessed by receiving user log-in information, the log-in information identifying a user and a corresponding VM, the VM having a local copy and a remote copy. | 11-01-2012

CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND EXTERNAL DATA STORAGE SYSTEM DATA SYNCHRONIZATION - Described is a technology by which a content management system (such as part of Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server) synchronizes data with an external (e.g., third-party) data storage system. For example, live video and/or on demand video webcasts may be stored on the external data storage system, but may be controlled by events created and edited at the content management system, even though the content management system does not directly support video content. In one example, an administrator creates or modifies an event at the content management system, and if the event is coordinated with the external data storage system, the content management system is synchronized with the external data storage system. One-way communication and/or two-way communication may take place for synchronization, including providing parameters to the content management system from the data store, or by sending notifications and queues to synchronize data with the content management system. | 01-22-2009
USER PROFILE REPLICATION - User profile replication may be provided. First, at least one modification to at least one user profile property may be received at a first service provider. A user profile change log may be updated in response to receiving the at least one modification to the at least one user profile property. Then the at least one modification to the at least one user profile property may be identified at the first service provider. Identifying the at least one modification to the at least one user profile property at the first service provider may comprise retrieving the at least one modification to the at least one user profile property from the user profile change log. Next, the identified at least one modification to the at least one user profile property may be replicated at a second service provider. The first service provider and the second service provider may be geographically separate. | 05-28-2009
USER PHOTO HANDLING AND CONTROL - Architecture for centralized photo storage for user profiles with consent and cardkey system integration. A picture picker can connect to a cardkey/security badge photo system to allow users to choose from badge photos. Consent is also captured by the picker to allow user photos to be used in other applications. Other applications can interact with the photo storage using standard web services and APIs for the user profile and user profile change log services. Centralized storage and insured accessibility enable applications to consume from the photo storage. The photo storage can also function as a virtual directory with distributed storage as utilized for geographical deployments. Extensions of the photo storage can include an add-in for a personal information manager application and a management agent for web-based collaboration and document management to copy photos from/to other directory structures. | 12-17-2009
