20100171575MICROELECTROMECHANICAL SYSTEM - The invention relates to microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), and more particularly, to MEMS switches using magnetic actuation. The MEMS switch may be actuated with no internal power consumption. The switch is formed in an integrated solid state MEMS technology. The MEMS switch is micron and/or nanoscale, very reliable and accurate. The MEMS switch can be designed into various architectures, e.g., a cantilever architecture and torsion architecture. The torsion architecture is more efficient than a cantilever architecture.07-08-2010
20100328249CAPACITIVE-INDUCTIVE TOUCH SCREEN - A touch screen uses a combination of capacitive sensing and inductive sensing applied to the same sensor pattern. A capacitive sensor uses the electric field formed by the columns and rows of the sensor matrix. An inductive sensor uses the magnetic field formed by current flowing in column and row lines to induce an inductive pen. Using the same sensor lines, the magnetic field created by the oscillating inductive pen is detected. Both methods require no moving elements in the sensor and it is possible to combine both method of detections in the same sensor pattern. Using switch matrices, the sensor lines are operated in an open loop fashion for the capacitive detection mode, and are operated in a closed loop fashion for the inductive detection mode.12-30-2010

20110257308BITUMINOUS MIXTURES WITH A HIGH POLYMER CONTENT - The invention relates to a process for the preparation of mixtures containing bitumen and thermoplastic polymer at a high concentration, stable during storage, with particular characteristics of easy processability and movability which, once diluted, allow modified bitumens to be obtained with high performance characteristics. In particular, the process allows mixtures containing bitumen, thermoplastic polymer and wax, to be prepared, wherein the polymer is in a quantity varying from 5 to 30% by weight with respect to the weight of the mixture consisting of bitumen and polymer, and the wax is in a quantity varying from 4.7 to 16.7% by weight with respect to the weight of the total mixture, and comprises reacting a concentrated mixture (A), stable during storage, containing bitumen and from 5 to 30% by weight of thermoplastic polymer, with a hydrocarbon wax containing at least 40 carbon atoms and having a melting point of at least 700 C, in a weight ratio between the mixture (A) and wax ranging from 100:5 to 100:20, at a temperature ranging from 160 to 2000 C and for a time ranging from 15 minutes to 7 hours, preferably from 15 to 120 minutes. An object of the invention also relates to new mixtures containing bitumen and thermoplastic polymer at a high concentration and mixtures obtainable from these by dilution.10-20-2011

20090241929Paintball gun loading methods and apparatus - Methods, apparatus, systems, and kits for loading paintballs into a feed tube of a paintball gun are disclosed. A loader includes a chamber for holding paintballs, a feed mechanism having a rotational feeder within the chamber that feeds paintballs from the chamber along a feed channel when rotating to fill the feed tube, and a drive mechanism that drives the rotational feeder of the feed mechanism, ceases to drive the rotational feeder responsive to stoppage of the rotational feeder, and periodically attempts to rotate the stopped rotational feeder. Paintballs are loaded from a loader into a feed tube of a paintball gun by driving a rotational feeder within the loader, the rotational feeder configured within the loader to feed paintballs into the feed tube when rotating, ceasing to drive the rotational feeder responsive to stoppage of the rotational feeder, and periodically attempting to rotate the stopped rotational feeder.10-01-2009

20110253009PAINTBALL FILL MATERIAL - According to principles of this invention, flour can be used as a filler for either an oil-based or PEG-based paintball fill material. In one embodiment of the present invention, a paintball fill material preferably comprises flour. More particularly, a paintball according to principles of the present invention can comprise a gelatin capsule defining an interior chamber which, upon formation of the paintball, houses a fill material. The fill material can comprise, for instance, 1%-65% polyethylene glycol, 25%-45% flour, and up to 0.5% dye, with the balance water. Accordingly, unlike conventional paintballs, the paintball fill material of the present invention preferably contains flour rather than starch to reduce the amount of polyethylene glycol required for the fill material. In alternative formulations, an oil can be used in addition to, or instead of, polyethylene glycol. According to another aspect of the present invention, the gelatin capsule for the paintball can also utilize flour in its composition. As with the fill material, the use of flour rather than starch in the paintball shell composition can reduce equipment maintenance and production costs.10-20-2011

20090170491MDN Switching Between Telematics Devices - Aspects of the present invention provide for a telematics subscriber and provider to facilitate a wireless carrier to associate a cellular telephone number from a subscriber's previous telematics unit to a subscriber's newly purchased telematics unit. In addition, the telematics provider reconfigures a new telematics device in a newly purchased vehicle to retain the same cellular phone number as the subscriber's previous telematics device.07-02-2009
20090207994TELEMATICS UNIT NUMBER PROVISIONING - Examples of the invention are used to provide a system and method for provisioning a telematics unit number based on a phone number already used by a customer. In examples, the telematics unit is provisioned with a number that aligns with a rate center plan, which is likely to result in a number that is local to a number the customer uses for dialing the unit and/or matches the area code of a number on the customer's account. In example a wireless telephone number is assigned to a vehicle telematics unit from an inventory of available wireless telephone numbers by querying the inventory to identify the wireless telephone number that matches one or more of the customer's home rate center, customer's NPA, customer's NXX, and customer's overlay NPA information based on a plurality of predetermined conditions.08-20-2009
