20090172132METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING IMAGE RICH WEB PAGES FROM A COMPUTER SYSTEM OVER A NETWORK - The present invention is related to a computer system that provides a web page to a requestor over a network. Aspects of the present invention include receiving by the computer system a request to access a web page and in response, determining whether a descriptor for the requested web page is in a session memory. If the descriptor is not in the session memory, it is retrieved from a database and the stored in the session memory. From there, the descriptor is used to determine whether the web page should be retrieved and returned to the requestor. By storing the descriptor in session memory, additional accesses to the database can be avoided when the descriptor is used for subsequent tasks.07-02-2009

Speech-to-text conversion technology and audio/video analysis are used to generate content and metadata. Subject matter is then identified and filtered to a predetermined set of subjects. Metadata tags and context profiles for the media segments are generated to index the media segments. Moreover, context information of the user is used to generate a context profile of the user in a format similar to that of the media segment. Indexed media segments are searched to match with the user context profile and a relevant media segment is presented to the user.06-10-2010
20110113098SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SOCIAL NETWORK TRUST ASSESSMENT - A first user's trust level with regard to a second user can be determined by providing questions to the second user, with the questions based on a previously-collected knowledge base including information about the first user. The information about the first user may be partitioned into levels of trust, and the second user's responses to the questions may be evaluated to determine which level of trust the second user is entitled to. The knowledge base may be assembled by prompting the first user for information and/or by scanning or otherwise collecting already-existing data about the first user. The knowledge base and/or trust assessment may be distributed across a network, and in some embodiments the knowledge base or parts thereof is distributed to other users according to the trust level of those users.05-12-2011

20090201923APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR A FAULT-TOLERANT SCALABLE SWITCH FABRIC WITH QUALITY-OF-SERVICE (QOS) SUPPORT - Embodiments of the present invention relate to portions of a switch fabric having a single logical stage and at least one physical stage. In addition, the data paths and the control paths of the switch fabric can be decoupled thereby allowing additional processing to be performed than would otherwise be the case with control rates that matched the high data rates. In other words, data cells received on high speed links can be spread over many lower speed links; consequently, the data cells can transit the switch fabric at that high speed while the control information associated with the data can be processed at that lower speed. Because the control information can be processed at a lower speed (associated with the control path), the control information can be processed over a greater period of time.08-13-2009

20080280294Inherited Mitochondrial Dna Mutations in Cancer - A method is provided for identifying a subject likely to have, or at risk of developing a disease condition correlated with increased reactive oxygen species (ROS), including cancer, by identifying in the subject a missense mutation in a nucleic acid of Complex III, IV and/or V of the OXPHOS system. This invention also provides a method of identifying a likelihood of having a heritable predisposition to cancer by detecting a homoplasmic missense mutation in non-tumor tissue of an OXPHOS system gene. This invention also provides a method for detecting likelihood of having cancer, predisposition to cancer, and likelihood of passing a predisposition to cancer to progeny involving identifying in non-tumor tissue of the subject a missense mutation in a complex III, IV and/or V gene of the mitochondrial OXPHOS system. The mutation may be a nuclear or mitochondrial mutation. The invention has been exemplified with respect to prostate cancer. When the mutation is homoplasmic in non-tumor tissue this is an indication it is an inherited and inheritable trait, and that the subject is likely to pass on the mutation to her progeny in the case of mutations in mitochondrial DNA or his or her progeny in the case of mutations in nuclear DNA. Both homoplasmic and heteroplasmic mutations in non-tumor tissue can indicate the presence of cancer.11-13-2008
