20110155202Miniature Thermoelectric Power Generator - The subject invention pertains to thermoelectric power generation. According to certain embodiments, a stack of silicon-micromachined chips can be connected to form a cylindrical heat exchanger that enables a large, uniform temperature difference across a radially-oriented thermopile. Each layer in the stack can comprise two thermally-isolated concentric silicon rings connected by a polyimide membrane that supports patterned thermoelectric thin films. The polyimide membrane can be formed by selectively etching away the supporting silicon, resulting in thermally-isolated inner and outer rings. In operation, hot gas can flow through a finned central channel, and an external cross flow can enhance heat transfer to ambient to keep the outer surfaces cool. The resulting temperature gradient across the thermopile generates a voltage potential across the open ends due to the Seebeck effect. When connected to a load, current flows, and electrical power is supplied by the generated voltage potential caused by the temperature gradient.06-30-2011

20090187791Failure Location Detection Using Types in Assembly Files - A failure identification routine uses a two pass stack trace analysis in conjunction with a list of called types. As each method is called, a call list is generated with the called type, method, and various metadata. During the first pass stack trace analysis, each stack frame is analyzed to determine if the failed type is included in the stack frame. If so, the method associated with the frame is flagged as suspect. If the failed type is not found in the first stack trace, a second pass stack trace analysis is performed and an assembly associated with the method associated with the stack frame is analyzed to determine a set of types. The set of types are analyzed to find at least one match with the called types. If a match exists, the methods associated with the matched types are flagged as suspect.07-23-2009

20090220229TRANSPARENT SWITCHING FABRIC FOR MULTI-GIGABIT TRANSPORT - A communication apparatus includes at least one input port, multiple output ports, at least one Serial-to-Parallel (S/P) converter and at least one Parallel-to-Serial (P/S) converter. The S/P converter is operative to receive from the input port an input data stream that is to be cross-connected to a destination output port, and to separate the input data stream into multiple sub-streams. Each of the switching planes includes at least one input for receiving a respective sub-stream from the S/P converter; multiple outputs, each output associated with a respective one of the output ports; and switching circuitry, which is configured to switch the respective sub-stream to the output that is associated with the destination output port. The P/S converter is coupled to the outputs of the switching planes so as to combine the multiple sub-streams switched by the switching circuitry into a combined output data stream at the destination output port.09-03-2009
