20080308485Self-adjusting minimum load filter cartridge and bypass valve - A combination full flow media and bypass media filter cartridge for filtering fluid in an internal combustion engine. The apparatus includes a venturi filter having a full flow media attached to and extending between a first endplate and a second endplate. The second endplate includes an orifice. The apparatus further includes a stack of disks extending between a compression end and a venturi end. The stack of disks has a flow path defined by a plurality of openings wherein each disk includes at least one opening. The flow path extends between the compression end and the venturi end. The venturi end is substantially adjacent the second endplate of the venturi filter. The apparatus further comprises means connected to the venturi filter for maintaining a minimum sealing force on the stack of disks.12-18-2008
20090078631Modular fuel filter assembly - A fuel heater module and a water-in-fuel sensor module are disclosed that are configured to be connected to an outside surface of a filter assembly. The fuel heater module includes an inlet port and an outlet port with a heating element positioned in the fluid path between the inlet and outlet. A thermostat is included for controlling operation of the heating element. The water-in-fuel sensor module is configured to detect water in the filter housing that it may be drained from the filter housing. Both modules are configured to be attached to an outside surface of the filter housing thereby being readily replaceable.03-26-2009
20090184041Fluid filter with clear shell portion - A fuel-water filter/separator for threaded connection to a mounting base has a shell and a filtering media positioned within the shell. The shell has an open top end and a substantially closed bottom end. The shell is made of an opaque plastic except for a window in the shell made from a substantially clear plastic. The substantially clear plastic in the window being insert molded to the opaque plastic. The filtering media is positioned within the shell for filtering fuel. The shell defines a water collection portion beneath the filtering media, the window of the shell being positioned such that it overlaps at least a part of the water collection portion to allow water level monitoring.07-23-2009
20090241315REPLACEABLE FUEL FILTER ELEMENT AND FUEL FILTER ASSEMBLY - One embodiment is a unique replaceable filter element. Further embodiments, forms, objects, features, advantages, aspects, and benefits shall become apparent from the following description and drawings.10-01-2009
20100101993FILTER CARTRIDGE HAVING A FILTER WITHIN A FILTER, AND AN ENDPLATE SEALING STRUCTURE ON AN OUTER FILTER ELEMENT - A filter within a filter cartridge design is described that includes a sealing structure on an endplate of an outer filter element. Generally, the sealing structure includes an annular flange on the endplate that can directly seal against an interior surface of a housing when the filter cartridge is assembled for use. During filtration, the annular flange prevents a working fluid from bypassing the outer filter element. The sealing flange can seal with the housing in a press fit engagement.04-29-2010
20100108590FLUID FILTER WITH AN ATTACHMENT STRUCTURE ON AN ENDPLATE OF THE FILTERING ELEMENT - A fluid filter includes a filter element having a filtering media disposed between two endplates. One endplate includes an open flow passage that allows a working fluid to flow into or out of the media during operation. The other endplate includes a connection structure. A cover houses the filter element, and has an opening that is an inlet or outlet in fluid communication with the opening of the one endplate. The cover includes another fill opening proximate the other endplate. A cap is connected to the connection structure of the other endplate to close the opening of the cover. The cover is retained between the cap and other endplate. Generally, the attachment configuration between the cap and the other endplate of the filter element helps ensure that the filter element with the correct micron rating is installed in a filtration system.05-06-2010
20100126919FILTER ELEMENT WITH THREADED TOP ENDPLATE - A filter assembly where the filter element is designed to connect directly to the spud of a vehicle fluid system, for example an engine lubrication system, a fuel system, or a hydraulic system. This provides a direct connection between the filtered fluid and the fluid system. The need for a seal between the top endplate and the nutplate, as well as the coil spring within the shell, which are found in conventional spin-on filter assemblies can be eliminated, which reduces inventory and the number of parts forming the filter assembly, and facilitates manufacturing of the filter assembly.05-27-2010
20100126928FILTER CARTRIDGE RETENTION TO NUTPLATE - A filter assembly where the filter cartridge is secured to the nutplate and a seal is provided between the filter cartridge and the nutplate. The sealing relationship between the filter cartridge and the nutplate is maintained during use of the filter assembly without using a spring engaged with the filter cartridge that biases the filter cartridge into engagement with the nutplate.05-27-2010
20100176047FLUID FILTER WITH NUTPLATE HAVING AN END FACE SEAL AND OUTER ATTACHMENT DESIGN - A fluid filter has a filter element disposed inside a housing having a generally open end. The filter element has media allowing a working fluid to be filtered therethrough. A nutplate connected to the housing at the generally open end has an end face with an inlet and outlet. The inlet allows the working fluid to enter the generally open end of the housing and access the media. The outlet allows filtered fluid to exit the generally open end of the housing. The end face includes inner and outer seals. The inner seal surrounds one of the inlet or the outlet and is between them. The outer seal surrounds the other of the inlet and outlet. The inner seal separates non-filtered fluid from filtered fluid. The outer seal separates the fluid from the external environment. A connection structure on an outer surface of the nutplate allows connection to other equipment.07-15-2010
20100200490FILTER WITH LOCALIZED FLOW ATTACHMENT AND FILTER HEAD - A fluid filter device is described, where a flow attachment member provides a unique interface between the filtering element and a filter head. The fluid filter described herein generally provides a flow structure that is localized and sealed. The flow attachment member is configured to communicate fluid into and out of the fluid filter, and is configured to localize fluid flow both into and out of the fluid filter within a separating structure of the flow attachment member. The flow attachment member further includes a seal structure configured to substantially prevent or at least confine leakage to a localized area away from proximity of the edges of the housing. A composite filter head is described that has integrally molded inlet and outlet fittings.08-12-2010
20110006646MOUNTING INTERFACE FOR A HOUSING OF A FILTRATION MODULE - A mounting assembly is described that has an interface designed to increase the stress margin of at least the module side of the assembly, for example in a liquid filtration module, and to increase ease of assembling its mounting components. The interface reduces the failure of the mounting assembly at least on the module side, so that if failure of the mounting assembly occurs, such an occurrence is less likely to be at the interface and on the module side, thereby reducing the need to replace more complex and expensive components that may be on the module side. Generally, the mounting assembly includes a mounting interface and a mounting bracket connectable to the mounting interface. A retention component is configured to maintain connection of the mounting interface to the mounting bracket.01-13-2011
20110089104REPLACEABLE FUEL FILTER ELEMENT AND FUEL FILTER ASSEMBLY - One embodiment is a unique replaceable filter element. Further embodiments, forms, objects, features, advantages, aspects, and benefits shall become apparent from the following description and drawings.04-21-2011
