20090302614WIND AND UPDRAFT TURBINE - The invention relates to the field of electrical generation and more specifically to the use of a wind turbine for generating electricity. A vertical axis wind turbine is mounted on the upper portion of a chimney. Rotor blades are disposed on the outside of the chimney and the mechanical energy produced by the rotating rotor blades is transferred to a generator by means of a short drive shaft. The drive shaft is used to drive the rotor within the generator to induce a voltage in the stator. In an alternate configuration, the wind turbine and generator are integrated. The rotor blades are coupled directly to a rotating, current inducing set of permanent magnets or rotor for rotation about a stationary, current generating stator. In either configuration, the rotor blades are rotated using the updraft associated with the chimney or the prevailing wind.12-10-2009

20110153836DYNAMIC ATTRIBUTES FOR MOBILE BUSINESS OBJECTS - Embodiments of the present invention relate to system, method, computer program product embodiments and combinations and sub-combinations thereof for generating dynamic attribute elements and dynamic attributes for MBOs. An embodiment includes generating dynamic attribute elements for MBO metadata in a manner that enables a mobile application to directly access and modify dynamic attributes included within the dynamic attribute elements. In an embodiment, dynamic attributes are included within the dynamic attribute elements arbitrarily to synchronization sessions of a server and a mobile application. The embodiment also allows the mobile application to set a value associated with a dynamic attribute. Another embodiment includes embedding a dynamic attributes entity in generated client code and downloading dynamic MBO attributes and associated metadata when the client synchronizes with the server.06-23-2011
20110161290DATA CACHING FOR MOBILE APPLICATIONS - Systems, methods, computer program product embodiments and combinations and sub-combinations thereof for data caching and cache synchronization are described herein. An embodiment includes comparing data in a cache with data stored at a data source and determining database operations needed to synchronize one or more partitions of the cache with the data source. Each cache partition is associated with mobile business object (MBO) metadata of a distinct mobile device and the determined database operations are executed to synchronize the partitions with the data source. By refreshing only those partitions which are pertinent to a given device, embodiments of the invention may increase parallelism by allowing multiple partitions to refresh concurrently. The embodiment further comprises reviewing a caching policy associated with the cache. The caching policy may be selected in a manner that reduces data traffic and redundant requests on the data source.06-30-2011

20110006165APPLICATION OF CONFORMAL SUB BOUNDARY LAYER VORTEX GENERATORS TO A FOIL OR AERO/ HYDRODYNAMIC SURFACE - A method of improving aerodynamic performance of foils by the application of conformal, low drag vortex generators. A film of erosion protection material or other conformal material is placed on the foil to provide a medium for the incorporation of planform edge vortex generators. The form edge is shaped to achieve submerged vortex generating shapes of chevron or ogival planforms, extending primarily chordwise on the foil surface. The vortex generators promote improved boundary layer dynamics by mixing free stream flow into the boundary layer while minimising separation and fluid losses. At the trailing edge, the shape formed with the chevrons applied apex forward, acts as a vented gurney tab series and additionally as disruptors to the Von Karman Street wake, delaying sheet rollup into the tip vortice.01-13-2011
20110008174Application of elastomeric vortex generators - A method of improving aerodynamic performance of foils by the application of conformal, elastomeric vortex generators. The novel use of elastomers allows the application of various forms of vortex generators to sections that have been problematic from engineering and cost considerations. A novel and efficient vortex generator profile is identified, which develops an additional co rotating vortex at low energy expenditure. The mechanisms allow for the application of transverse vortex generators, or Gurney Flaps/Lift Enhancement Tabs/Divergent Trailing Edges, to propellers, rotorblades, and to wings/flaps/control trailing edges. Cove Tabs are additionally described using an elastomeric transverse vortex generator to achieve performance improvements of a high lift device.01-13-2011
