20100243984Live bioelectronic cell gated nanodevice - This invention is directed toward a bioelectronic cell gated nanodevice. The bioelectronic cell gated nanodevice comprises a plurality of bioelectric cells deposited on a fiber of a nanodevice. The bioelectronic cells of the nanodevice act as a gate, allowing current to be transmitted when the bioelectronic cells are exposed to an actuating chemical. The present invention also provides methods for constructing such a device.09-30-2010

20100094147SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING HEART FUNCTION - Characteristics of a user's heart are detected. In accordance with an example embodiment, a ballistocardiogram (BCG) sensor is used to detect heart characteristics of a user, and provide a BCG output indicative of the detected heart characteristics. The BCG output is further processed using data from one or more additional sensors, such as to reduce noise and/or otherwise process the BCG signal to characterize the user's heart function.04-15-2010
20110021928METHODS AND SYSTEM OF DETERMINING CARDIO-RESPIRATORY PARAMETERS - Embodiments of the present invention provide noninvasive methods and systems of determining and monitoring an individual's respiration pattern, respiration rate, other cardio-respiratory parameters or variations thereof.01-27-2011

20100301928LOW NOISE, LOW POWER SUBSAMPLING RECEIVER - Techniques for a receiver includes a low noise amplifier, a Q-enhanced bandpass filter on a chip, and an analog to digital converter (ADC) at a sub-sampling speed suitable for an intermediate frequency (IF) signal. In some embodiments, a temperature compensation circuit is included. The receiver has an effective noise level less than 7 dB. In some embodiments a 1-bit ADC is used. In some of these embodiments, one or more switches in the ADC are inverted to cancel charge injection.12-02-2010
20110095763GEOLOGIC MAPPING USING LIGHTNING - A method and apparatus includes detecting lightning induced electromagnetic pulses and determining a physical property of an underground structure based on the lightning induced electromagnetic pulses. In some embodiments, an apparatus includes an antenna, a low noise amplifier, a processor, cable, and a transmitter. The antenna includes three substantively perpendicular loops of electrical conductors. The processor is configured to condition the amplified signal. The cable is about 100 meters in length and connects the low noise amplifier to the processor. The transmitter is configured to send conditioned data to a data aggregation system.04-28-2011

20090281730Long-range lightning detection and characterization system and method - A long-range lightning detection and characterization system and method. Electromagnetic radiation produced by a lightning strike is sensed at a sensing location and a measured signal representative of the strike is produced that defines an amplitude versus time. A set of reference data containing waveforms comparable to the measured signal is established. The set of reference data defines a set of reference amplitudes versus time, representative of one or more predetermined reference lightning strikes at various predetermined distances, where for each of the distances, the reference lightning strikes have associated therewith various predetermined day/night percentages. The measured signal is compared with the reference data, the comparison including finding a correlation between the measured signal and a correlating waveform in the reference data. At least one of a propagation distance, a time-of-arrival, a polarity, and an amplitude of the measured signal is inferred by reference to the correlating waveform.11-12-2009
